When HIS detailed its HD 4890 iCooler X4, it came across more as a one off model that probably takes the place of an IceQ 4 HD 4890. Apparently the company plans more accelerators with the iCooler branding, starting with the HD 4850 iCooler X4. Available in 1 GB and 512 MB variants, this card is poised to be simple and inexpensive. A short, blue PCB holds an aluminum fan-heatsink to cool the GPU, while the memory cools off under its air-flow. A minimalist 2+1 phase VRM circuit powers the card, which is passively cooled as well. It uses reference AMD clock speeds of 625 MHz (core) and 993 MHz (memory, 1983 MHz effective). Output connectivity includes DVI-D, D-Sub, and HDMI with 7.1 channel audio. It will be out later this month, standard pricing may apply.

I'd prefer the IceQ 4 to be honest,because I have more than just a video card in my PC

now if they would back their products with a lifetime warranty like XFX and Visiontek id be sold on the idea of the HIS iCooler 4890 or even this board since it's 1GB.

even though the 4850 is still a great card - no desputing that. there are BETTER & more UP TO DATE cards available for what stupidness HiS will charge for this card.

a HiS Radeon 4870 1Gb ICEQ 4 - is still averaging around £135 here in the UK - yet - they still do a 4870 for UNDER £100 with a different cooler - so that shitty cooler with heat pipes costs you an extra £35??? a sapphire toxic 1 gb is still cheaper by a few quid & has the same clocks

I don't mind them, because really, they work quite well. What I do mind is when they anodize them dumb colors... If it's aluminum, black or silver please. Leave copper the way it is... Definitely none of those copper/orange-colored alu coolers though =/

yall cry too much, if you don't like it you don't have to post here. TBH I like cards that are different since there is no ATI that releases boards as First party anymore(ATI Firstparty was the Shit back during the x1900 and lower series). All of them have to release a reference, then they release their own designs

I like it. Good looking card. I love the fact the ram is also being cooled. I have two Asus 4850s that the ram is completely exposed and yeah I've had problems with them.

@eidairaman1
Maybe I was lucky but I always loved ATI first party cards. I still have an X800 ;) Also a 3 year warranty is better than a lifetime warranty. I learned that the hard way. When they say "Lifetime" they do not mean a real lifetime. They mean EOL for the card. So if the card goes EOL after six months from your purchase so does its warranty.

@FreedomEclipse
You get what you pay for. Sure there are better deals out there but HIS IMO is one of the best. Their coolers are second to none in my experience.

I know what lifetime warranty is, but usually what happens is they replace it with the same card if they have left over stock or an equivalent board. ATI First party boards were great IMO, I have a 9800 Pro AIW in a box as a spare (Replaced a 9700 Pro "I" Broke-stupid modification I attempted) Also about the current boards here (4850 iCX4 and 4890iCX4) are very good looking; 4850 with 1GB and better cooling and a 4890 with better cooling. I had a run in with HIS warranty system back in 2007, took them a week to reply to a request for RMA. Sapphire on the other hand was with in 1 day, both companies at the time had a 1 year warranty, I put Sapphire a little higher on my rating due to customer service.

you can get a 4870 for less then £100! ($164.56) this 4850 is obviously gonna be priced above that because of the cooler - even buying a standard basic 4850 then getting a 3rd party cooler & putting it on yourself would probably work out cheaper then what they gonna charge you
