Hello guys,

So the CPU cooler as arrived and its working but now that I'm trying to overclock a problem showed up.

This is what I changed in the Bios:

HT to 800MHz
DDr2-667 to DDR2-533
and the FSB to 255Mhz

now when I try 260Mhz - boot fails.. Now I attempted on increasing CPU voltage from 1.3v to 1.3250v (that's what my motherboard puts as the next value) and it crashes again.

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-MA770-UD3 AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard

What should I do now?
Right now I'm at 2.42Ghz

CPU: X2 3600+ (Dual-Core) Brisbane

Okay so I changed the HT to 600Mhz/ 1 GHz and it made it pass POST.

Now when I tried the 260 MHz, same problem showed up
Temperatures are bit high - 48*C - 51*C
But my room is also really really hot.. Room temperate about 80*C

Hold on.. Speedfan states that my temperatures are about 33*C - 36*C and core is at 22*C

Looks like your north bridge is burning up.

Alright so this is what I had done

Increased Voltaged to 1.350V and lowered HT to 600Mhz.. Everything is fine.
However when I change the FSB to 260Mhz, POST fails.

About Tmpin2, it is always at 80*C, even when I turn on the computer in the morning.

could the ram you have be only cheap 533mhz ram? and be what is failing ? or is it 800mhz or 1066mhz ram lowered to 533 mhz ? cpu-z SPD tab will tell you

also get some cooling on the north bridge as said above that would be my number one guess

ok ty, just looks like the north bridge then, have you tryed lowering the volts and seeing if it works, better cooling, or even checking if the NB cooler has correct contact and/or need a new coat of thermal paste ?

okay at 270mhz I'm facing some problems.
At 280Mhz I make it pass POST but then Windows crashes.

I tried on increasing voltage V1325v and V13500v but nothing worked.
and I also tried on increasing the Northbridge by .25v and still nothing.

Windows auto crashes when it loads
now at 270Mhz, Windows is very very much unstable.
Temps are around 40*C idle.

Right now I'm doing a 2 hours test using OCCT.
Again I'm at 270Mhz at 1.325V

Results are in:

So yeah.. Should I continue going or did I hit the roof?

Btw like I said, changing the CPU voltages didn't make any differences at all! It didn't make my system any stable or allowed to push further.
Pretty much what I did on my OC has just increasing the FSB.. I'm sure I could push it further..
Please help

Had to drop the FSB to 265Mhz because I was getting too many system locks up / blue screen of death.

You need to set your voltages manualy.

Don't be afraid of CPU voltage, I used 1.375v to get my Sempron LE-1250 to 3GHz Linpack stable overnight. That was a single core processor but it was still a Brisbane (same type of CPU you have).

80*c is not good... like erocker said your northbridge is probably burning up. Get a fan pointed to it somehow. I ziptied an 80mm case fan to the vent on my side door in the direction of my northbrdige. Or, you could replace the cooler on the northbridge. You need to be careful though as the northbridge heatsink often interferes with graphics cards.

Might I point out that it may help to remove 1 of your ram sticks. 2GB dual channel is faster than 3GB in single.

The problem with changing the voltages is that it doesn't make any differences at all, Sure I could go to 1.375v but my system doesn't seem to be running any stable either is letting me push further.

I will look around for an extra fan to throw on it.

I will sure do that.

UPDATE TIME!

I think the problem was my RAM, ever since I removed it I was able to reach my "goal" of 3Ghz but Windows was wayyyy to unstable..

Right now I'm at 2.90Ghz - 305 Mhz at 1.325v

Any ideas on how could I reach 3 Ghz and have Windows run stable

I tried on increasing the voltage to 1.350v when I was at 320Mhz but it didn't work.
