Yes.You could put it in your current motherboard.
Probably you will need to update your mobo bios first.

Quakecon introduction
AMD loves Quakecon and with that in mind, it doesn’t surprise us that at the same event, it plans to launch its new quad-core CPU. We are talking about new Phenom II Deneb based 45nm CPU that will now work at a record 3.4GHz.
Intel’s Core 2 Extreme works up to 3.33GHz and with 3.4GHz core clock, Phenom II X4 965 black Edition will be the fastest CPU that will ship to that date.
The introduction time is August 13th of the first day of Quakecon gaming event that takes place between August 13 and 16 in Gaylord Texas and according to the website counter, this event is about to start in nine days and nine hours, at least at press time. You can check it yourself here.
Texas as the launch location makes perfect sense as both Quakecon and AMD are two Texas based operations.
The interesting part is that with the same 125W TDP, AMD can officially reach even 3.4GHz and something tells us that this might not the be the last stop with this 45nm CPU, but we are certainly approaching some limits. Knowing that AMD doesn’t have a 32nm CPU until second part of 2010, it is quite obvious that Phenom II X4 will have to hold its ground until the new 32nm quad / six core parts come out.

The three cores of the Phenom X3 II 740 will run under the model number with 3 GHz and 200 MHz for faster than the Phenom X3 II 720, AMD's flagship at the moment of the triple-core processors, and this country is just under 100 euros for the changes hands.. The Phenom X3 II 740 appeared in a few weeks ago already at a CPU support list, one motherboard manufacturer.
. When AMD will introduce Phenom II X3 specifically the 740, is still uncertain. According to Fudzilla, it will certainly happen later this quarter, which is known on 30 September
Advanced Micro Devices is preparing a desktop processor with six processing engines, sources familiar with the company’s plans revealed. The new central processing units (CPUs) will not be available this year, but are likely to boost performance of AMD’s desktop platforms sometime in 2010.
AMD’s processor code-named Thuban is the company’s first desktop processor with six processing engines. The microprocessors will be compatible with socket AM3 infrastructure and will have integrated dual-channel PC3-10600 (DDR3 1333MHz) memory controller. It is very likely that Thuban processors will retain AMD Phenom II brand name as well as design of the code-named Istanbul chips for servers, thus, will feature 3MB L2 cache (512KB per core) and 6MB of L3 cache. The chips will be made using 45nm SOI fabrication process.
