GPU Under 9 inches

The smallest I can find from Nvidia is the GTX9800+ or rather the GTX 250.

I have been thinking a HD 4670 or 4770 would fit, but need someone to confirm the length of the card. I have an limit because of the design of my HTPC thats using it.

Edit: I would go 4670 for a low power htpc build, but the 4770 is good too. Would a 9600GSO work too? They are exactly 9".

I am not sure about the exact size of GPU's out their with the exception for the opens I own. Many manufacturers will listed the size of the cart, but only in the white paper pdf doc on their site. You may be hard pressed to find the size for some manufacturers.

In general, the GTS 250 is about 1" shorter than its 9800GTX+ clone. The 4870 is about the same length as the 9800 GTX+, which I thing is around 10.5" (not sure).

The 4770 should be much shorter (about 8") and the 4670 is shorter still.

In general

sub $70 cards are 6" to 8"
$70 to $135 cards 9" to 11"
$135+ 11.5" to stupid

This image from TPU review of the 4770 should help you a lot since you have purchase and have access to at least 3 different cards.

Yeah I'd go for a 4670 too, get the Ultimate edition, it's passive and has good tempps/

A 9600GSO would fit but the only ones available new are the crappy 512 version and the even worst ddr2 version, nvidia killed off the 384mb model which were really cheap and fast.

I can almost guarantee that the new low power or energy efficient 9800 GT is less than nine inches:

Just look at it in relation to the PCI-E connector. Its as short as or shorter than an HD 4770. Also, it would be a good deal faster than an HD 4670 while still not needing a six pin connector. That Arctic Cooling fan should be pretty quiet - nice for a HTPC.

Palit made a 4850 with a significantly shorter PCB, but I don't know if it's still out there for retail.

9800gt (or the former 8800gt), 9600gt, 9600gso, 4670, 4650, 8600gts and etc.

at any rate depending on your budget I'd go for the 9800gt.
