hello veterans, i had fallen in love with overclocking since i got my sempron socket A 2400+
and oced it from 1.66 to 2.6 stable... now i have an AMD 64 x2 5000+ Birsbane 2.6ghz and a gigabyte (GA-MA69VM-S2) motherboard... i know how to overclock, but the problem i have is that my crappy motherboard/bios? doesnt let me adjust the Vcore of the cpu :shadedshu
i unlocked the bios (ctrl+F1) and i still dont see a Vcore control option, i have installed some software overclocking utilities (like Easytune) and it still doesnt work... thats what i did without voltage increase:

i think the proccesor can handle more

so i want some help, some tip about pinmoding, voltmoding or whatever to increase my voltage and corespeed, i asked all around bulgarian websites, forums and whatever and nobody could help me :(

here are my specs:

AMD 64 x2 5000+ Birsbane 2.6ghz
Gigabyte GA-MA69VM-S2
Gigabyte Zalman cooled 9600GT 512 ddr3 256bit
Corsair XMS2 2gb 800mhz
some crappy HDD 320 gigs
400W PSU

please help a poor guy achieve his dream - pushing his birsbane over 3.0 GHZ

ps sry for my bad english

Holy crap! You got 3ghz on stock volts.... That is pretty amazing. Sadly, if your motherboard doesn't have voltage controls, and there isn't a BIOS update that has them, you will need a different motherboard to go higher.

Edit:

I just checked and confirmed that there are no manual voltage controls for this motherboard, and I am very sorry to say that I can't find a BIOS that allows it. Seems that if you want to take that chip higher, you will need a different board.

how cheap exactly?
my old 5200+ brisbane did 3.1 on stock vcore.. can you try upping the multi to max, then raising the fsb? my 5200 ended up maxing out at 3.315g on a gigabyte ds4h
a nice am2+ 790x mobo would be nice for you... and its cost effective
or 770 or 780. their all better mobos than that one you currently have

Christ, big dejavu for me here. My first motherboard had no voltage control with my 5000+ BE, so I got an ASUS M2N-SLI . . . however that wouldnt allow for voltages over 1.35 :shadedshu

And im 90% sure I found a pinmod for the 5000+, however I never saved it, plus it was eons ago haha.

Good luck with such a great processor :D

Not on the old athlons, no. Id be a bit skeptical about running it at that 24/7, but its easily removed if you want to tone it down.

My stepdad has the same board and I found a modded bios once that allows voltage control in the bios and got his chip to 3.2 which is also a 5000 Brisbane BE.

I'll look around for it I may still have it on my machine

did your gigabyte mobo come with @bios? its a program that allows bios flashing while in windows

afaik, gigabyte 7zips their bios/drivers into 7zip.exes that should auto unzip when opened

3ghz not bad at all for stock volts, that wa also the stock voltage ceiling I had found to. When I had a cheaper mobo I was forced to run my 5000+ BE at 3ghz, once I upgraded I was able to turn 3.25ghz with voltage bumps.
