Ok guys, I was wrong about the q6600. Damn, 1 out of the six CPU's I listed was wrong, that's not that bad is it?

NOOB!

Its fine man. I'm learning about Intels anyway. So if the multis are so low and you can keep the temps below 55. Why don't I see more 4ghz setups? Is it because the die size cant sustain it?

Not really sure why. I'm in the 4ghz club with both the e8400 I had(had it as high as 4.27ghz 9*475) and my q9650(had it as high as 4.16 ghz 9*462), both of which could do more if I had a p45 chipset motherboard. The xeon I had maxed out at 3813mhz on my 750i chipset motherboard.

If my PC wasn't mission critical (money maker) I would be in there. This 955 I'm running runs cool as hell on stock cooling. Of course the multi is defaulted at 15 so it might take some more work to get there than an Intel.

I don't know why it would. The higher multi means you don't have to run as high a FSB to get the higher OC. Think about it, which would be harder to get stable? 9*500 FSB for 4.5 ghz, or 15*300 FSB.

exactly, higher multi = lower bus for the same overclock, so for 4ghz and a 15 multi you would only need a 266bus speed, and for a 9x multi for that same 4ghz you would need 445 which is harder to acheive, though you cant compare intels bus speed to amd's they are 2 totally different architectures.

You put 266bus on a 790 chipset without some fancy cooling and its buh bye mobo.

What's the point when you can get an E8400 and overclock is higher ? I really don't understand the release of this chip myself...

Exactly why I said you cant compare intels fsb to amd's htt link or whatever the actual name is for the bus speed :toast:

400+ is fairly easy to reach on most of the later 775 chipsets. So its like comparing apples n pears, I prefer apples myself

There is no E8700, read the whole post :slap: :toast:

Interesting, the 770 I have can do 320 HT clock and the Northbridge states cool :p
I guess its because the 770 is such a tiny chip. :respect:
That thing is smaller than the nail on my pinky.

Yes, Batch# Q831A941. It seems that after that April Fools Joke, most Enthusiasts gave up on ever getting the E8700 or believing in one. Motto: Never Give Up.

Wow with such low multis I wonder why the do not overclock better. Do they run hotter than AMDs or something?

It's because of the numbers. FSB runs a higher number than the AMD equivalent. Unless you have an AMD chip that run 15x400-500? :)

Hey, I got my E8700 delivered on Black Friday. The E8700 I won only had two bidders. The other bidder dropped out and I bid $1.99 more and won the CPU. The other bidder emailed me after I won the CPU and told me that he couldn't find the proper specifications at Intel site. He said he didn't think the CPU was real or he would have bid more! I ran my E8700 for 5 days and it is now stored for safekeeping. I tried to upload photos but couldn't due to upload limits. After what happened to Fearlessleader I'm not trying to prove anything!!!

I know that two OEM E8700's were sold. I know that mine was used for "Full Vista Installation Test....O.K." by some OEM before I got It. As of now no one has claimed the other E8700 and as of Sunday it will be for sale again. All interested should Stay Tuned for Round 2.

Release Nov 2009

Apparently it's legit. Anyone know how many were made?

Francios Piednol has been editing cpus to show whatever spec he wants for some time now. He did this with the 1366 975XE in the thread I got banned off of XS for. They do this to provide parts to OEMs for product qualification, such as VRM design. This is why I acted the way I did back then.

Since Francois admitted he was mis-labelling cpus and handing them out, I'll never buy another Intel chip, nor will I ever bench for WRs. It's simply underhanded. Hence the non-acceptance of "ES" cpus in WR competitions...Francios killed that dead.
