I am looking at the these two cards:

POWERCOLOR RADEON HD5870

Core frequency: 850 MHz.
Memory Clock: 1200MHz (4.8Gbps

or

XFX RADEON HD5850

Engine Clock: 765MHz.
Memory Clock: 4500MHz.
RAMDAC: Dual 400MHz.

The 5870 is 60 euros more is it worth getting or just the XFX 5850!

For Price -vs- Performance the 5850 would be the way to go.

where is the monitor?? if u r using a monitor res. of 1920*1080 or 1920*1200 then i think 5870 will perform much better than 5850.

you might want a bigger PSU if you wish to go CF in the future more like 1000W or a 8/950W

Here's what i did, replaced my HIS 4870x2 with a Sapphire 5850, at that time i had a 22" 1680x1050 res. monitor, then upgraded to a 23" 1920x1080 res. monitor, i didn't have any problems gaming @ that res. with my 5850, a couple of days ago got my second sapphire 5850 and setup a CF, man the 5850CF is just amazing even if i go to a much higher res. it will eat up any game i throw at...

thats really pushing it if you want to use that PSU in the long run, as cap aging will slowly reduce output

Well, if you're not a huge gamer, then I'd save myself the money and go with the 5850, this card will be able to handle anything you throw at it on highest settings for 2-3 yrs, then move to med hi...

i wouldn't say highest for 2-3 years for the 5850 or 5870 tbh, since the new generation of consoles will lead to an influx of badly optimized ports ^^ Still, for your needs i would say the 5850 would suffice :)

5870 for sure at those resolutions a 5850 oced would do okay but a 5870 is what you need.
