Random computer freezes no bsod

I have a computer that's getting random freezes without bsod's. Fresh windows install, fresh hardware, and passes IBT and memtest. I assumed it was the memory at first, but a memtest ruled that out. Anyone have any other idea what may cause this?

System specs:
Core i5 750 (stock)
2x2gb cas9 patriot ram
Radeon 5850 (stock) cat 9.12
Gigabyte p55a ud3
Corsair 750tx

Sometimes, a properly grounded wall socket can solve it (this happened to me a few years ago and add a ground to the wall socket solved it).
Other than that the only thing that can cause this would be driver issues (software related) or PSU (power supply) but since your computer passes IBT the PSU should be more than OK...
Hope you figure it out.

That "random" word makes thing difficult :D. I just wonder does running intensive apps like prime and 3dmark speedup the freezing problem ? For example if prime makes freezing faster you could rule out the VGA etc. Prime mostly tests CPU and mem and because it makes the PC to draw large amount of power it could expose PSU related problem. If prime does not speedup the freezing and 3D mark does you could bet on the VGA.
If we rule out driver/software related problem I would bet on the motherboard. When the PC freezes does the HDD led is ON if that is the case I would change the SATA cable to the hard drive. The cable should not be bent more than 90 degrees many will argue that would not make any difference but I`v had many situation like that.

I`m sorry for the long post :D.

Using a different computer on the same outlet works just fine. Using a different outlet in another house doesn't change anything

It has happened while running 3dmark and it has happened while just using firefox. Not sure if using more power makes a difference since sometimes it won't happen for 3 days and other times it happens in 10 minutes. I don't think the HDD led is on when the freeze occurs

This sounds like a HDD problem with sending receiving data. Update your sata drivers.

are you overclocking at all, if so it might be unstable run the system at stock speeds if overclocked and try to get the lockups.

It sounds like a motherboard chipset problem where the voltage isnt high enough to run correctly.I know it means the chipset will get hotter but I had to do this on a new motherboard i got and it helped .I myself could run in windows but firefox could crash for no reason at all and only certain games crashed also and it did fix my problem,I think it was a memory controller problem.

What OS and AV?If it is windows 7 and AVG 9, they had some problems (its seems) show up at one time, per the net. And, Windows 7 seems to not like to play well with some USBs. Nvidia Chipsets for one. I had the problem on a laptop and got a Fix from HP. It would like freeze for 30 seconds to a minute, then go on about it's business.

Also, update your bios to the latest. Install the latest sound drivers, USB driver, etc>here

Random stuff is a pain. Goodluck.:)

In game? That happens sometimes in poorly coded games like Killing Floor
