So uhh , do you recommend me to go back to 3.4 Ghz @ 1.36250 volt untill I get a better quality memory which let me go faster than 800 mhz so I can modify the FSB before the multipliers ?

Edit : Well looks like the memory confessed it lol... I went back to 3.6 Ghz and lowered the voltage to 1.3650(BTW , to see this value in CPU-Z I had to put 1.39810 in the bios . So The voltage Bios show is innacurate ). well , I was playing AVP 3 and suddenly I got the system rebooted and the PC speaker made a sound like a Chopper incoming missile alarm , after that I had to press F12 to engage express recovery =/... Some ppl told me It's about the memory , they say the application tried to enter to a damaged cluster and made the system go down .
So is this really a memory issue ?

you set 1.39 in the bios for 1.3650 in CPU-Z? Thats called Vdroop and it means your motherboard/PSU isnt giving you a stable voltage.

it means you need to put more and more voltage through in order to get the power you need to the CPU. This isnt a good thing, it means you're approaching the limits your system can put out.

Nothing you can do. I haven't ran across a modern Intel platform that actually runs the volts you set. My board is constantly .02+ off what I set it. I have it set at just over 1.3 right now and it gives me 1.28. That screenshot I posted on page 1 (1.35v) ended up showing around 1.328 in CPU-Z. All I do is pay more attention to what it says in CPU-Z than what I set in BIOS.

yeah but its not a good thing.

For example: if you set 1.40v in BIOS and get 1.35V idle and 1.30V load - it means that at idle your CPU is getting fed more power than you want to. You know, at load all may be swell, but at idle the volts go up higher possibly reaching the point its too much, and could kill the CPU.

If you still dont get what i mean, what if he needs 1.375v to make his OC stable at load, but at idle it reads as 1.45v?

When Vdroop starts getting involved, you need to be careful about what your highest voltage reading is (idle) not just at load.

Oh and i've not had a board with Vdroop in years - even my P35 board had LLC, which prevents Vdroop.

So in which of these two ways is vDroop defined:

1. BIOS setting of voltage is higher than that shown in monitoring apps.

2. Voltage drops under load.

I assume you mean #2 because you say you haven't gotten vDroop in years. I find that this can be controlled with raising CPU PLL and Termination.

The first one, well, do you actually see the same number of volts in CPU-Z etc? Because I'd like to know how this is done.

both.

Its whenever the voltage is lower than what you set.

Like i said above: you could set 1.40 in bios and get 1.35V at load (due to you pushing it too far) and then it drops ti 1.30 at load.

The reason intel and AMD release CPU's with voltages higher than they need, is for cheap boards like these that have Vdroop even at stock voltages.

So what the effe !! My board is not that cheap ... And I've already tried to raise CPU PLL and termination ... I played ARMA 2 yesterday at 3800 mhz 1,47500 Bios volt (1,44250 shown at CPU-Z ) It worked great ... today I lowered it @ 3600 due to problems with other appl and almost got my system killed while playing AVP 3 ... The comp rebooted and then gave me over 8 bips , so I thought : '' Cpu's history '' but thanx god I was wrong . Then I asked what those bips meant and they told me it's the memory which could be barely damaged . SO F*ck my generic kingston memory !

Those are just pre-defined settings. Going above the rated speed is called memory overclocking. My sticks show as 800 max too, but they're running at 890 and can hit 933 (but not stable).

not sure what giga call it, asus call it load line calibration (LLC)

Oh yeah. It actually works for you? Has been on in this board, was on in my 750i FTL, and never really did anything, just helped a bit. Certainly didn't show the same volts in BIOS as CPU-Z.

I told you to just keep your memory at 800 and work with the multipliers. Multiplier and voltages, that's all you can do. If it doesn't work for you, look into a new motherboard or processor.

Indeed is what I did and it worked... but I just can't get mussels words outta my head '' A core 2 at 1.45 volt is asking to die '' lolz , that's why I got back to 3.6 at 1.39 ... and things seem to have worked properly up to now... But I seriously consider about getting some G.skill or OCZ memory one of these days ...

even if you get better ram, you're still going to need the same voltage for the same CPU MHz - your chip just cant OC that high at safe settings.

Yeah but maybe I could get a higher CPU freq keeping the same voltages I'm using now , all this only by pulling up FSB instead of multipliers . I can't just upper the FSB more than 400 just because of the memory , but this would change when I get a memory capable to work at 1066 +

FSB vs multipliers will be the same - FSB often takes more voltage, since you're increasing more than just the CPU.

when you get higher speed ram, you're likely going to need MORE volts (to the ram and NB/memory controller for sure) - so heat will be higher. it will not be lower.

@Mussels : wearing out ? Mhh not at all , I've bought it 5 moths ago. I think it still young , am i wrong ?
And It's not lying , I've tested It with an amperemeter ! , besides It cost almost 160 U$s , so It's not that cheap I think...

Sweet Jesus you got ripped off!

Also, you need to be using something other than AvP to test stability with. When that Configuration can stand up to an hour or two of OCCT linpack at maximum memory usage then you can call it stable.

at high voltages like that 1.45v, 5 months is certainly enough to start degrading things.

@ mussels : The heat seem not to be a problem right now... the problem is stability due to something I still can't get a clue... Btw oyu think that heat is not the only thing that could kill the cpu , but there are an issue about the ammount of voltage passing through it ?
And why there're still people who insist that Core 2 E 7400 can reach and even go above the 4 Ghz mark ??

@Theshad0w : I haven't got ripped off , welcome to my country buddy : Devalued money makes regular things cost like ''A'' class ones... Anyway I don't test OC's with AVP , I use to test stability with games like ARMA 2 , GTA IV and all CPU demanging appl. ... BTW , waht is OCCT linpack?

My somewhat vague point is summarised here:

You may be reaching the limit for your hardware. dont do anything stupid like really high voltages to push it higher, as you'll likely end up killing something, or with a max OC even lower then you have now.

just because a few chips can on LN2/water, doesnt mean ALL chips can.

the people who get the high OC's have the best chips of the best batch, the best motherboards (and no, a midrange board does not qualify as the best), the best ram and the best PSU. They get everything in their favour to achieve these OC's - not random hardware and reliance on luck.
