Hey all ive an i7 at 1.375 vcore and am curious on idle temps. My mabient is around 70f and my cores according to rt are around 42 or so idle using an h50. Is this normal? Thanks for your advice. Wondering if ishould get some different tim and remount the h50.

Upgrading TIM might help the performance a bit, out of curiosity what TIM are you currently using. Double check that your current mount of the H50 is good, cause if that's loose a bit, could be affecting it too. Last thing I have to add is that I am betting if you are running the fan that came with the H50, it won't quite be enough to truly keep that 930 cool, so may want to add a second fan or upgrade that.

H50 just isn't that good a cooler, so at 4.2ghz you'll be really pushing the limits of what it can handle.
Out of curiosity, what temperatures do you get with an OCCT Linpack test and are you stable?

87 c on the hottest core last time and yes it is stable, no issues there. ill probably get some new tim ordered this weekend and see what i can do from there. i disagree with the h50 not being a good cooler, unless you mean compared a nice wc setup, then yeah. otherwise it holds its own with most top end air coolers from my understanding.

What are you using for stability testing?

haha no, close.. but it doesn't play with the big boyZ, i can run 4.2 on 920 1.35v under 77c air cooled

for the price its a good deal i think though.. my AC setup cost alot more than a H50.. if i were you id run it at 4 or 3.8, nothing to scoff at on an i7

but if your idle temps are true.. those are some damn good idles for a H50 at 1.375 impressive

Have you tried push/pull on the rad? I've heard it does well.

BTW, I don't think the H50 can touch some of the bigger air coolers coming out now. The Noctua even converted this water cooling lover:
