Hey guys, I know this has been answered and questioned 1,000 of times before, but mine is different. I cannot access anything via Keyboard and Mouse USB (Haven't tried PS/2, doubt it will work) and I get the light to the mouse so I know it's not a power issue, rather a driver issue. This is what I have done:

  • Removed HD wires, replugged them
  • Took out the battery from the Motherboard
  • Tried to put Recover DVD in, no help still

I would get into desktop mode, but still no help. I then restarted the PC without any of the mouse or keyboard attatched, and now I get a driver missing error. I am going to try to connect my Hard Drive into my new PC, but how can I transfer all windows files into there?

Thanks

I am at work now, but if I cannot find a spare one, what are my options? I wanted to know if I can reformat the Hard Drive when I connect the old HD to my new PC?

Before you go to extreme measures, try the M/K on another USB port.
I've had Dell systems where a printer would work on a port but not anything else.

Ive had this happen to one of my friends before - If its the keyboard & mouse that dell bundles with their machines - its no good. dump it & buy one yourself then it will be picked up.

as far as i know its something to with their bios not initializing the USB properly during boot up. - its a common occurance with Dell systems if you choose to keep & use their bundled keyboard & mouse

It's all USB there are no ps/2 port's that I thought it would have!?

SOMEBODY else have any idea's options?

When I boot up it say's Windows/System/ missing file or corrupt. Press R to repair...I know how to fix this, but I can't because the BIOS isn't picking up the USB port's or the /System/ is missing those files.

This is what I want to do, is run the HD onto my other PC and transfer the files from my recovery disk...makes sense right?
