BTW - GTA IV Patch 6 is out.It removed RGSC and some performance tweaks.

It's got decent performance for me. As long as you have a fast quad or tri core you will be fine.

i've got 46 minutes left in my download from D2d... i was not expecting another 15gb download, but oh well. i've got work to do until far after it's done anyway

but i have loved all GTA games since the originals. that elder scrolls and half life are the series i pretty much buy without question, research, anything - and haven't been disappointed in a decade so... i'll chance it

i will let everyone know though, I just reinstalled GTA4 as I NEVER FINISHED IT!! so now i have tons of fun waiting

i'm thinking it's stand alone, but yes it is an expansion to 4. it is 15gb download from d2d - so if you need the original installed that's a crazy 30gb requirement. I have it anyway as i am playing it again but i doubt it is required.

I cannot capture screens properly using Crossfire...I just get a black screen.

However, the pc client was updated with the same fixes that the "Episodes" content has, as of today, and both run EXACTLY the same FPS that I can tell...hard to say when the scenes aren't exactly the same.

The "episodes" content is launched AFTER the game loads, so while it's published as Stand-Alone content, it really isn't anything different. You can now also buy the episodes individually from within the game for 1200MS points each.

I can run now on high, all other settings maxed, including view, and get 60FPS in the benches(@2560x1600)..got like 45-60FPS before.

1st Mission of Lost and the Damned was pretty smooth for me. Everything high with 25 or so on distances. Screens in the morning.

it'll lag like hell if you turn night shadows on to medium and more so to high or veary high. I'm not sure what night shadows even does to be honest. I see no difference at night with the shadows.

it runs a lot better. I was able to increase all settings & get better performance with them higher.

very fun too Lost and Damned is great - only played tony's for a few , looks like it will be shorter, but idk for sure.

recommended gonna play some more now before work
