I bought a 5970 a couple of days ago and I have noticed the following issue - when I launch a fullscreen program, like a game, the mouse does a high-speed flickering, and in Crysis the bushes and grass do that too, except when I'm close to them. I've read that this is a Crossfire problem, but the only solutions I could find are for old versions of Catalyst and for the 4870X2 or older cards. I'm using Catalyst 10.4. Turning VSync on doesn't help, neither does changing any settings and/or resolutions. Any help would be very much appreciated.
E
DIT: When I force 60Hz refresh rate from CCC the mouse problem disappears, but the flashing bushes are still there. Patched Crysis to 1.21, nothing happens. I ruled out overheating, because even at 100% (both GPUs are at ~60*C) the problem is still there. I benched the card with FurMark for 8 hours, no errors, BSODs or anything. Also overclocking the card or leaving it @ default doesn't help with the flashing textures. I will install Crysis WARHEAD to see if it has the same problem and edit my post later.

Well, these square backgrounds appear behind grass and flicker constantly with it. It's like the game is trying to display a render of a picture but the background keeps showing. It's really annoying...

It already is at balanced. I have tried running with everything on default, and I mean everything - CPU, RAM, GPU... Nothing helps.

Perhaps check each IQ settings like AA/AF and see if it's set to Use Application Settings. Then check the slider on AAmode is set to MultiSample AA. Then see if AI is set to standard. Mipmap to High Quality and check that vsycn is disabled. One thing I noticed at about Standard Settings is that if you change it it also changes the rest of the IQ settings according to what setting you choose. Even if you check "Use Custom Settings" and the slider now reads "Custom Selection" it will not become custom until you change each of the IQ settings manually. Initially I thought that once you check the box for "Use Custom Settings" it would remember the last custom setting I had but it doesn't.

So, you've noticed the "texture flicker" that currently plagues ATI. Some refer to this as "texture pop"(as it pops in and out of existence).

In Just Cause 2, it's a faint line across the horizon. where texture filtering fails. In GTA4, it's the shadows.

I'm not sure on this, but I do beleive this to be a driver bug. Unfortunately, I do think Crossfire will have to deal with this for quite some time. Although single card has a somewhat similar problem.

For those that don't see it in his screenshot(I am familiar with this, unfortunately), at the lower right of the scope you can see the "see-through" texture.
