Try to use stock clocks of 850/1200 and see if that returns your 2D clocks to 157/300

Sure did I get the low 2D Clocks if I flash to 850/1200 again, but why should I?

This Bug is why I flashed to 900/1250 I got low 2D Clacks while disabling Overdrive.

The only Reason I want to enable Overdrive, I run Fan Profiles in CCC without the Card is to noisy.

Non reported but they do seem to play smoother on my system but that might just be the application profiles.

Apparently they screwed up power play with this driver. If you overclock your GPU you lose 2D clocks (157/300 for 5870) and go into some sort of powerplay state. This is suppose to be fixed in the next cat release. But I think there should be hotfix for it NOW!!!

I wonder why ATI keeps releasing hotfixes after major driver releases... I'm starting to doubt their driver releases already... :ohwell:

I am using these drivers, have had no problems whatsoever EXCEPT FOR running a game at custom resolution (red orchestra:eek:stfront 41-45). Its resolution selections in-game only goes up to 1680x1050 (idk why) but I read somewhere you can change the config file to run 1920x1080, and before 10.5 I was doing this normally working fine but now I cant :(. Small but odd. BTW im using an ati radeon 4870

geeze im sick of people complaining about this
the power draw increase is negligible same for temperatures ( I run my 5750 @ 450/800 @ 0.957V @ idil) smooths out encodeing/decodeing fro my media server without relying on power plays buggy code steping
ya need to stfu about it its here to stay

stop complaining. This is new solution that ATI is implementing. IF you run it at DEFAULT clock, it will have normal 2D speed. If you OVERCLOCK a bit, you'll get different 2D whereas your mem clock won't change at all.

Default Clock = functioning correctly.
Any modification on Voltage = 400/1200
Any modification on Core or memory = 400/1200

So, while idle just drop the clocks to default and it will be 157/300 again. (edit) this will work on dual monitor setups also.

Your posts make no sense and don't coincide with catalystmaker who said it was done for dual GPUs. And I beleive it was also intended for people with 120Hz monitors. Neither of which I or others have. Furthermore, placing the video card in a higher power state adds nothing to 2D that it can't already do at 157/300 at lower voltage. If you need to do specific powerplay tasks it will clock up when needed (IE: at 400/600 MHz, etc). Therefore, no need for it to be at 2D idle consuming 400MHz, higher ram frequency and at higher voltages. That's why your responses make no logical sense here.

Furthermore, I don't recall any issues having 157/300 2D idle that warranted the higher GPU clock rate and voltage increase. Those people complaining on those other forums have a valid concern.

Software XP Pro SP3 to Windows 7
Benchmark Scores This varies from one driver to another.
Since this issue is being implemented in Cat 10.6 as well I found a temp solution to avoid the 2D bug until it's removed. I found a temp. fix for this issue and it's to go back to Cat 10.4a. But I use Cat 10.6's atiumdag.dll and atidxx32.dll for the profiles. You can get them from:
X:\AMD\ATI_Catalyst_10.6\Packages\Drivers\Display \W7_INF (win7 32bit)
or
X:\AMD\ATI_Catalyst_10.6\Packages\Drivers\Display \W76A_INF (depending on which OS you are using.)
Find the files and use the expand command to expand them:
-expand atiumdag.dl_ atiumadag.dll
-expand atidxx32.dl_ atidxx32.dll
and place them into the windows\system32\ sub folder (not sure what it's called in 64bit). You should also be able to use the profile updates if they are released.
