Here are my system specs ( Not the Greatest but work for me)

OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit

Motherboard - Asrock A780gxe/128m

CPU - AMD Phenom II x4 955 c3

RAM - 4GB DDR2 800 (1 2gb and 2 1gb sticks)

Video Card - ATI Radeon 4870 1gb XFX

Hard Drive 500gb Sea gate sata 2 and 1tb Western Digital Black (no raid)

My Video card is in the green x16 slot and the crossfire switch is in the defult x16 slot and when i load up GPUZ and it says Bus Interface PCI-E 2.0 x16 @ 8x 2.0 And says when mouse is hovered over power settings may affect it but my power setting is on high performance. What is wrong i know 8x isnt that much of a performance hit but i just want it to run at 16x. Please do help ask anything ill respond asap. Thanks

take the card out of the socket, blow out any and all dust and double check the contacts.

reinstall the card and double check it in correctly.

8x PCI-E v2 vs 16x really is a VERY small difference in terms of performance.... maybe 1 %?

4870 has virtually NO performance lol in a pcie 2.0 x8 slot, if it were pcie 1.0/1.1, yes, but not 2.0

Check your bios for PCIe bus settings you may need to set it manually to x16 if it's on Auto detect

^ what he said

while you may want to fix it, dont worry about it. 8x in 2.0 is not going to slow down anything.

I had a very similar problem that I wrote up on my blog - http://www.mods-n-clocks.co.uk/?p=77

Basically it was the motherboard's fault and was cured by a motherboard BIOS update. Slightly different hardware to your setup though.
