Some of you might know that I bought an defective HD 4870 which would not output sound through standard HDMI adaptors. Well, I returned it and got a GTS 250 instead, and it is working perfectly.
I wasn't really concerned with PhysX, since most of the talk here makes it sound like it doesn't do anything and is just a gimmick.
However, yesterday I picked up Batman Arkham Asylum and I have to say I'm loving PhysX! All the little extra effects, as unneeded as they are, are really neat. The best part was that I didn't have to turn down any graphical settings to use it, the game is just as smooth with or without PhysX enabled on my GTS 250. I think once I beat Batman I'm going to go get Metro2033 and try that out.
Now that I'm out of school for the summer and working full time, I'm definitely going to start saving for a GTX 465 or 470, I was hoping for an HD 5830 or HD5850, but after seeing what PhysX can do, I'm not even considering them. I wish PhysX worked in every game.
I decided I'd re-post this since I feel the last thread got de-railed right off the bay by Mussels' trolling with his anti-PhysX ATi fanboy crap. Hopefully he can keep his damn mouth shut this time around.
I'd also like to say that anyone saying that the xbox version of Batman had the same effects as the PC version with PhysX on high is completely full of shit, and has obviously never played either version. I played the xbox version and it certainly does not have anywhere near the same level of effects as the PC version with PhysX on high. It has the same level off effects as the PC version with the PhysX turned off. There is some minor smoke, but nothing even close to the amount when PhysX is on high. So if you don't know what you are talking about, shut your mouth. I don't think anyone should be posting in this thread unless they have actually played PhysX games, including Batman, and want to comment on them. It is completely stupid to post about how you will never buy the game, and never play the game, because it is missing features that you don't even know for sure what they even do, because you've never played the damn game!
Also, to answer a few of the questions asked before the thread went to shit thanks to trolls like Mussels(I only single him out because he is a moderator, and should know better):
I play at 1440 by 900, my monitor does 1680 by 1050, but I had to lower the settings and resolution to get smooth gameplay. At first I did not enable PhysX, because I figured if I needed to lower the resolution to get smooth gameplay, then PhysX was going to kill performance. That was not the case at all, I was able to keep the same settings and enable PhysX. The framerate might be lower, but it is just as smooth, so I can not tell the difference.
