ok some ppl are talking the talk. I want to talk the talk correctlyso i did my research, consulted my teachers spent lots of time on intel forums, and on amd forums.
i am going to compare the intel x6800 to the amd fx-62

X6800 | fx-62
L1 Cache 32KB+32Kb | 128KB+128KB
L2 Cache 4M Shared | 1M Each Core
Clock 2.93GJz | 2.8GHz
Cores 0/1 | 0/1
Comm Through NB | Through L1C

Im telling these things because they make the biggest difference.

What is the L1 Cache? Data+exec/How much Data can be transfer per cycle+ How much data can be Executed per cycle.

Clock 1 Hz= 1 instruction per second. 1ghz= 1billion instructions a second

L2 Cache is like the waiting line for the L1 Cache

Comm= communication between core0 and core1. this is really important. amd communicates between the two cores using the L1 cache, intel uses the northbridge to communicate. Why is this important? the shorter the bus of communication the faster data is transfered, and the better reaction time.

now i hear intel fans like i was saying "it has twice the clock speed so its twice as good"
wrong. if i have 4 boxes i want moved intel can move 1 box at a time twice as fast as an amd, but amd can move all 4 at the same time at half speed. in breif even though intel moves twice as fast, amd still gets it done twice as fast.

everything i have told you is true as far as the sources i have gathered. if you think i am wrong, pm me and i will tell you in a simpler manner.

from this info i have given up my love of intel, and i now like my amd so much better.

however intel fans dont give up. Xeon! the intel dualcore xeon is still the best processor for networking servers. opteron does not network near as fast as an intel xeon, however opterons move data so much faster, and edit video faster. so intel has a chance at making a comeback with quadcore xeons, however the architechure needs to be improved from the idea they have now.

again correct me if yu think i am wrong

...Clock 1 Hz= 1 instruction per second. 1ghz= 1billion instructions a second...

Clock 1Hz is once cycle per second, not one instruction. In each cycle you can execute three, or even fourteen instructions at once, depending on it's complexity. I don't know the exact numbers, but the Intel Core 2 processors can get more instructions per cycle done than the AMD current architecture, that's why they are more efficient, even with less raw speed (most of the time a E6600 @ 2'4GHz or even the E6400 @ 2'1GHz can beat a FX62 @ 2'8GHz, and the X6800 @ 2'93GHz is even better).

...Comm= communication between core0 and core1. this is really important. amd communicates between the two cores using the L1 cache, intel uses the northbridge to communicate. Why is this important? the shorter the bus of communication the faster data is transfered, and the better reaction time...

Where did you read that the Intel cores communicate between them through the northbridge? Intel has the memory controller in the northbridge, while AMD has it integrated in the CPU, but both have the cores communicating betweeen themselves through components in the same CPU die.

That first post is so full of marketing bull its not even funny..

seriously, you need to read up more LOL

High end intel does win.. right now... but thats always a teeder-todder for whos faster.

Low end, AMD has the big guns.

According to Maximim PC Magazine;(Holiday 2006 issue),the core 2 duo E660 in just as good as the Athlon 64 X2 5000, and I can't wait for the new AMD quads core's to come out, then AMD will rule again, HAhahaha !!!

amd's quad is fourx90nm tho' compared to intels 4x65nm.intels 65nm cores are beating amds current cores,so it stands to reason that intels quad will beat amd's.

oh well i suppose amd has the big little guns.

Intel hasn't beat AMD yet, who cares about the nM size, it has nothing to do with the overall performance, Only power consumption.

Benchmark Scores does it really matter?
but some of the c2d vs amd benchmarks have had unequal hardware
but because it is dificult to be able to tell what is eqaul when crossing the line between amd and intel, the only equal boards i know of are the i975 and ati xpress 3200. those are the only benchmarks i will beleive

what one is better ....this orange or this apple....lets compair...

this is also like ati vs nvidia...both have good qualities...both are great companies...in my case its been about who has the compatable product to go with a cpu, and for me that is amd i find more great mobos amd ready than i do for intel, and trying to find a crossfire mobo for intel vs sli is a joke...:rockout:

lol some of those link are bogus and dont give enough information, one said opteron 165 Vs conroe, he overclocked the opteron to high for it to run good the best clock for that processor is 2.867 or something like that, and besides a lower end opteron is not of the same class as a conroe

in my initial post did i ever say anything about overclocking?

Obviously...imma try and be nice in this one.... You havnt done any real research on this subject. Which is an insult to the people who have and are posting. If your looking for information, Fine thats great!! But if you just want to post for the single reason that you like AMD, then be a little more productive/considerate by posting some hard facts/links that validates your side of the fence, Noone is wrong for posting opinions that are backed by research, but if your opinions are blind (like urs) then just leave the keyboard be lol.

Yes, but thats compairing Intels newest to amd's last, not newest. The comparison I read was C2d to X2. AMD was EQUEL to Intel. Apples and Oranges I agree. As for Mobo's and Video cards. Don't just match Intel with Nvidia and AMD with ATI look at it the other way around also. And yes currently there are more SLI boards available compared to Crossfire; But AMD is in the process of correcting the mistake of the ATI dongle.

Sorry, i know that was posted early in the thread, but i just had to say "LOL"

Not being funny here, but an E6300 would beat an Fx-62. Or an E6400 if you don't plan on overclocking.
