What do you guys think about this build? I'm (he's) limited to a strict $500 budget. It's lacking a DVD drive but I'll lend him mine until drivers are properly installed. Honestly though, I haven't opened my DVD drive since I installed Windows. I'm not going to OC anything at all because my cousin's an anti-overclocking Intel fanboy. Anything you guys would do different?

Looks good for the most part. I would switch out the motherboard, as MSI lower end boards are notoriously bad.

I picked it mainly for the price, what do you think about Biostar? There's a combo deal with the Core i3 which would bring the price down of the board by $20.

Paul its a newegg shell shocker- Itll be over in 30 minutes so

Thats perfect- you better buy it now

The Shellshocker is MSI's 110 dollar Micro ATX Hdmi board droped to 70- and rebate to 59.99

Its a good board.

Buy it now or your ganna have to switch the whole system.

I just placed the order on the board. I chose it because I liked the heatsinks on it, every extra bit of cooling makes a difference right? :) I'll worry about the parts later, worse case scenario I have to reject the package & get a full refund from Newegg.

Edit: Done, ordered the MSI board. I would have waited but 3volved told me the Shell Shocker would be done at 4:00 PM EST so I pulled the order. Going to await confirmation from my cousin for the other parts, I'm headed over there now & should be getting the money for it. Anymore input is appreciated!

A good luck is in order. I've never dealt with MSI mainly because I've heard more mixed opinions about them more than any other...including XFX.

Looks like you have everything in order. Looks like a fine setup for a non-overclocker for sure.

Just wanted to update this thread about the build. The total was $499.73 (granted I had to give him my Hyper 212+ + some case fans and he still has no DVD drive) but the system is running perfectly smooth. For a brand new system with this kind of performance, $500 is a steal. :)

Oh and the MSI board is great. It could use some more BIOS options but for a small form factor "entertainment" board it's great for the price I paid ($69.99).
