Have you got a spare GPU? or any spare parts to run in your system to see what happens? Id also run it on the bare min, as in no HDD's, no fans, just the basics first and see if it post's.

On a side note, who is the chick in ya avatar? hehe

Check your memory. Install only one stick at a time, and see what she does.

I had this happen to me, I was playing Fallout 3 (not a particularly stressful game) on my old rig, when the PSU revved up like a muscle car then exploded in sparks. No other components were hurt, but that thing was dead. Have you tried the barebones boot? Only the mobo, CPU, and one RAM stick. If it doesn't stay on for a while it at least narrows your options down.

I found it. it's two pins. what do i do with it?

nevermind. ill touch it with a screw driver.

nothing changed. manual told me to either put a jumper cap or use a screwdriver.

i touched the two pins with a screwdriver for a few seconds.

Another reason why I mentioned removing the battery and unplugging it.

Pull all ram and see if you get any bios beep codes.

EDIT:

Nevermind, sounds like your motherboard or psu is toast. Here's to hoping it wasnt psu and it taking any other components with it.

Yeah. Blinking lights and burning smells are never good. A lot of us suspect the PSU is on it's way out. If it does go it could take your whole system with it.

Everything seems to be running nicely.

When I booted for the first time, BIOS went completely Default.
Everything was pretty much DEFAULT settings.

I actually overclocked again to 4.05Ghz. Everything is running nicely.
So far no crashes on Windows. No more burning smell either.
Video card is also OC'ed as well.

Fans are working perfect, also the CPU fan is perfect too.
I put the Video card on two separate rails now.
I can tell my system is running perfect because before, my CPU fan didn't work properly.
The fan would literally be like 100 rpm, as if it was struggling to work.

Now it's at 1500+ rpm. :)

Everything seems healthy. I'm going to run a few applications and high-end games right now.

UPDATE:

So I am running Starcraft 2 right now.
CPU temps are just under 40c (about 35-39)

Overall System temps are between 34-36

And GPU temps are just under 60c (about 55-59)

ALL IS GOOD! WOOO!!

Thanks guys for being very helpful and sticking with me on this, lol.
Been on this for hours. Thank you to all who helped me!

Also, no crashes or any signs of defectiveness on Starcraft 2.

When a psu goes they can be moody. Like work work work, and then bam it does this crap. Then it starts working again just fine for days.

It can get to a point where it's ok as long as you don't turn it off.

Just throwing it out there, but I hope you don't see anymore problems.

I have also seen memory cause this same issue; where the problem comes and goes for quite a while.

lol awww man!

all right. I'll have to watch out for it then.

Should I just not overclock then? Run my entire system on default and stock?

For some reason I read new cpu cooler as new cpu. Anyways I'd guess maybe you had something conductive causing a short and it got burned off.

I would just run it as normal, but be sure to look at the voltages in bios to see if they are stable. If they are not you will see them jumping up and down most of the time.

You will notice problems if something is wrong of course.

Another thing to do would be run windows memtest over night to see if it passes. Sometimes it can take 10 hours before you will see it fail.
