Logitech Launches Speaker Lapdesk for People with Compact Laptops and Netbooks

Bringing you rich, stereo sound for your compact laptop or netbook, today Logitech unveiled the Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N550, a comfy lapdesk that creates a theatre-like entertainment experience around the home. A follow-on to the popular Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N700, which is designed for laptops up to 16-inches, the Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N550 delivers premium sound and comfort to people with laptops that are 14.1-inches or smaller.

The Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N550 features precisely placed integrated stereo speakers that sit on either side of your laptop and deliver rich, full stereo sound. The Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N550's angled base raises your laptop screen to a comfortable viewing position, and integrated foldable bumpers on the lapdesk surface help keep your computer in place.

So what if they do cost 1/10th to make they probably do, then you have to factor in thiungs like R+D, Q+A, marketing, distribution and of course they are a company who are out to make money

Logitech make some great pc speakers don't know what you are on about

Unfortunately I already have a Zalman NC-1000 and a nice set of Altec Lansing XT1 speakers - XT1's are old but they provide 100x better sound then laptop speakers. so I will not be buying this lapdesk

Logitech is one of the best manufactures

Could be nice, since most netbooks have really shitty speakers. But then it seems kind of bulky, so that would negate the compact idea behind a netbook...

I think I'll just stick to headphones, though this could be nice if you are going on a vacation or something and multiple people wanted to watch something using a netbook.

I have the analogue 580 (or whatever) 5.1 system and I am fine, can never go beyond medium volume as I live in an apartment.

Klipsch makes great (albeit too expensive) PC speakers. Logitech does not. Good enough for most =/= great.

The step between a generic plastic 10 € speaker (as supplied with most prebuild computers) and a 150 € Logitech system is huge. Will another 500 € make an also huge impact? For audiophiles.
But the better Logitech speakers are good enough for every scenario except maybe classic music.
Where I say Logitech, you can put Creative or Philips, or any other popular brand.

And anyway, a true audiophile would never put his 'top' speakers in an ordinary room, the next step is a proper 'home auditorium' room with proper acustics to listen to .... MP3s and Youtube movies LoL

You don't need a home auditorium to hear the difference between the very best Logitech has to offer vs a good set of speakers. Sorry, but "good enough" just does not = great speakers, as he implied. Logitech does not make any great speakers, period.

Not many people would demand 'great' ('great' understood as the maximum quality) from a computer system as opposted to a HiFi audio and cinema system.

We were talking about connecting a netbook, remember?
And besides all considerations, all small speakers must sound poor, no doubt. I just don't understand how this thread derived so much away,,,
And my speakers sound good. And yours not. Period. lol

I think Logitech makes very good for money speakers. it performs 70% compared to the high end speakers but costs less than a tenth.
