physx is a joke. wait till ati and nvidia intergrate physics processing units into their graphics cards, either thru a hardware or software solution.

they are designed for accelerating physics operations in games. but heres the problem with it.

1. only about 5 games support it. one of the games is made by agea, and the other 3 suck. one is splinter cell, but the diff between having physx and not having it is negligable.
2. it actually doesn't speed up anything. maybe 1 or 2 fps, but thats not a real difference.
3. and the ultimate irony? the game agea made (i forget the name) that "requires" the physx card to run actually doesn't require it. you just pass in a few run parameters and it runs fine without it, AND it performs and looks the same.

don't get me wrong, i believe that ppu technology has a future, but its not now. i'd wait a few years, until game makers really start using it. By that time, there might be a whole new standard for ppu's, and the agea would be junk.

The idea isn't bad, however at the moment they aren't very useful. Wait for next gen games to support it and it to make a real difference.

And i really wonder why are manufacturers releasing 3PCI-E for 2GPU and 1PhyX card.T hat would also mean no PCI slots for a sound card and other stuff.

Contrary to what was previously said in this post, Physics cards will not increase FPS in games.
They will actually decrease FPS in games.
This is due to the fact that there is now more on the screen to display (example: during explosions in games) and due to this there is more stress on the GPU.
Right now they dont offer too much benefit from looking slightly nicer in the few games they are supported by.
Also, please note that they are def. not worth the $200 they are going for.
Might as well get a really good GPU instead (since that does make a difference in games).

If you find a second hand ageis on ebay for $10 or less, its worth it, for the curiousity value. But I wouldnt pay any more personally.

... the figure was for emphasis. Some people, however, are just more curious than others ;)

physics card

So a physics card will only work if the game is designed for it? Will it work on moves? Or is this card just hype.
