LinusTechTips on youtube has made a temperature video of the gtx580, it idles at 35c and max out load at 69c in furmark

The gtx580 is listed in sweden at around 480euros.

Yes, the top reading is temperature and the one below it is fan speed. :) The review claimed that the GPU was about 70℃ after being tortured by furmark, which seems too good to be true to me.;)

Edit: sorry for my mistake, the second reading(from top to bottom) is GPU load and the third reading is fan speed.

I think at this point, I am believing this....and it is freakin awesome if true. Imagine 2 in SLI :D I see that MAYBE they have the temp issue worked out, but I am still curious about power consumption.

It is said that GTX580 comes with a feature that the card will reduce its performance and clocks if it is overloaded. I'm not sure if this feature has anything to do with the suspicious low GPU temp.

Too good to be true? nah not really -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAbaOrnV2Ag

580 comes with a feature that throttles the card down so it dont get overpowered or something like that. When launching up furmark which is a program that puts unatural stress on the GPU. And no, take a look at the video i linked above , and u will see the gpu load is still 99% and at 69c.

I think at this point, I am believing this....and it is freakin awesome if true. Imagine 2 in SLI :D I see that MAYBE they have the temp issue worked out, but I am still curious about power consumption.

Maybe? its alot cooler then ALL the other ATI/AMD cards i can think of right now. Besides, the 5870 gets about just as hot as the gtx470.

Seems easily believable as 470 and 480 were from the gf100 whereas the 460 was based on gf104 which ran a lot cooler and consumed less power, the GTX 580 has been built on that gf104 architecture and not the earlier gf100 to be now released as the gtx 580 gf110?

Duckula, if you did see the review before it was pulled. In furmark the performance was lowered/raised/lowered and so on, because of the 300W limit, so the average was about 260W, so that´s why it is looking so good in Furmark

Yes. I will still say maybe. I want to believe this is true, but until W1zz, or Bene, or Cada, or mdsx, or one of the "gurus" around here have one in hand and are showing me results, it is still all just conjecture/speculation.

GTX580(GF110) is a reworked GF100 and it also has a decreased transistor count from 3.2 billion to 2.9 billion.

LOL. Yes, I did watch the video, and it is impressive. I just have a handful of friends/TPU members that I rely on for my reviews prior to purchase. I wasn't trying to be offensive by saying maybe. So why the rudeness. Did I hurt your feelings by saying I was going to wait for some friends to get cards before I purchase?

Geez man, this is a polite and informed forum, no need to be an @$% when people say they might wait. BTW, if you are so convinced, have you purchased yet? They are at the Egg now for ~$600.

But saying its all just speculation as u said, where i reacted at , _after_ ive presented Video Proof is maybe a wrong chosen word and sentence from you.
No you did not hurt my feelings, wtf u on about??

Yes i know its a polite and informed forum, seems that u are commenting in a thread, u dont have any information on/about.

its like i would go ahead and say: i want proof that the temps are so low until a friend got a hands on one of the upcoming 69xx series AMD cards , AFTER ive seen pictures and even videos of the temps, After the card has been released.
Is it just me, or that has no logic in it? maybe stupidness or ignorance? Pick your choise man.
And no, i wont purchase this card.

What you posted is not the 100% truth. The card at full load is using Furmark, and from what i have read, the card throthles under Furmark to not overload, so this could be another Nvidia cheat, to make you think the card is really running cool.

I say wait for w1zzard`s in-depth review, and than comment on it.

Check the video i linked, and u will see that it lowers the shaderclock by around 100mhz only when its "throttling", the gpu clock stays the same, and the memory clock.

Take a look at w1zzards review, its up on the site already.

In Crysis it reached 86°C, and if overclocked with voltage tuning it started to throttle at 97°C. So much for being sooo much better.
Oh and it still doesnt beat the 5970, but costs more.

Am really wondering what the new AMD 6950/70 will bring to the table.

Just read W1zz's review. Temps are still a little on the high side for me, and performance per watt is still not where I would prefer it to be. But this card is definately in the running for me. Let's see what the 6970 brings to the table, and then a decision will be made. I have a nice little chunk of change waiting for new video card(s). :D

To the comments posted in here: I try my best not to be rude/insulting in these forums, as I like it here and have made some great friends. Calling people stupid/ignorant is not necessary and is unfriendly to say the least. All I was commenting on was that I was waiting for reviews from W1zz, or others that I have grown to trust, and that I know are knowledgable. I was not even disagreeing with anyone, just saying I would wait.
