alright. and I guess I must connect the monitor to the graphics card after installing the drivers while its still connected to the original port.

WHAT?

No your onboard should not work when the PCIex card is in. you may have to disable it in the bios. also install the card then install the drivers

Oh no I thought there was nothing to change in the BIOS
hmm I think I will have to read the installation manual very well before starting anything. hope it all goes quite smoothly. But I want to ask will it be okay if I do not disable it?

think it will be fine but if not, I will remove the card, run the computer as usual, find how to change my bios then redo everything once again

What are PEG connectors? Are those specifically the ones that I need to buy? Would they be available as two four pins to one six pin for a graphics card?

on some board it will be disabled when vga card detected, but the other dont do the same
so best thing is try by yourself, if after you slot in the card it aint work, it means you need to disable it then shutdown then slot in the card then boot it again
but on newer board it disabled automatically when there any vga card that slotted in

Alright! Thanks. I don't think my board is much Hi-fi. Even the PCI-e slot is offsuit orange. So probably I would search and learn first how to disable it and then try to install the card. I had read my mobo manual a few days ago but didnt find anything about this in card installations.

I also want to ask that will installing a graphics card also disable my inbuilt video card?

your inbuilt video card is what the onboard vga plug is using so yea it will be disabled if the bios disables that vga port when you add a new video card. the last motherboard i put a video card in with that chipset (in a dell optiplex 520) the onboard was still enabled with the added video card. I was able to disable it in the bios but didn't have to.

you should be able to just plug in your monitor to the new video card when you install it and be fine. If for some reason you lose display when windows starts up you can unplug the monitor and plug it into the onboard port and tell windows to use the video card as the primary display, apply and then when the video signal goes away plug back into the new card and you should be fine (i've had to do this on some systems)

Oh Thanks a lot for the info! That was all I need to know. There will be no problems during installation now.

I was thinking of getting a HD 5770 but some games absolutely need physx to run and it needs to be separately installed and it may give bugs so I guess I will go with GTS 450 and also as Intel motherboards are designed to work with Nvidia cards that may do some good and give lesser problems in the future.

I have decided to buy EVGA GTS 450 FTW version. I have been watching some unboxing videos and i saw that it already comes with a VGA to DVI adapter and a twin 3pin to 6pin power connector. But I have four pin molex. So I wanted to ask will it be okay if I attach the 3pin connectors to my 4pin molex?

I wanted to add that those 3pin connectors are like they can accomodate a 4pin molex. Only they don't have a fourth pin.

Take the 4 pin molex connector and connect it to your psu, then take the 6pin and plug into your gpu.

But before anything CLEAN YOUR SYSTEM!!!!

There are two spare 4pin molex in my cabinet(they have holes) and they are already connected to the psu. Actually they both come from the same wire. The gpu comes with two 3pin connectors. So I wanted to know is it okay if I connect the two 3pin that I get with my gpu to my 4pin molex I have.
The gpu connector has 3 pin but it looks like it can also be connected to molex with 4 holes; one hole remaining unused.

Guess it will be alright.

Whoa! Good News already. I remembered having an extra monitor wire; so I searched for it and found that it is a DVI cable. I checked my monitor and discovered a slot I had never noticed before, near the VGA. It is a DVI slot. So won't be needing an adapter now.
But the card still will have to wait for a week more.

Buying a low-end DX11 GPU is pointless becase they can't handle any of the DX11 features anyway, so you will end up playing all your games in DX10 mode anyway. And anything that is capable of actually using DX11 will overload your PSU.

But to answer you question, yes DX11 graphics cards will work with DX10 games and DX9 and DX8...etc.

+1. I remember this issue going back to the nVidia FX5200. It was DX9 compliant in hardware, but when pushed in DX9 games it fell flat on it's face because it just wasn't fast enough to be competent in DX9. Many low end cards that claim DX10 or DX11 compliance are actually bad choices for running DX10 or DX11 games because they don't have the grunt needed to execute them flawlessly. Here's a good example that I tried recently, I recently tried running the HD4800 Froblins demo on a system with HD4250 integrated graphics and it was a huge mess. HD4200 has all the features, but just doesn't have the horsepower of a HD4800 needed to run the demo. Buying a GT 430 and thinking it will run all the latest games is going to result in disappointment. Even a GTS 450 would be a better choice for games, but realistically if you want to turn on lots of the bells and whistles in games then a fast GTX460 would be the bare minimum. GT 430 is more a basic card for people who just need to be able to see what they're doing on a monitor and don't make heavy demands of their computer.

That board will support a GT430. Possibly even a GTS450.

But before oyu do anything do yourself a favor and take out all the parts and clean up your case and use a air compressor to clean all your parts and then do a nice rebuild and put the clean part into a clean case. looks like you have dust caked on to the case metal. just use a wet paper towel

Hey! I bought a GTS 450 OC edition not stupid GT 430. It's playing Battlefield Bad Company 2, Just Cause 2 and Sniper Ghost Warrior ALL MAXED OUT on my 19" widescreen. I also bought a fan and a new PSU. And I had cleaned the case. Those are very old pictures of the first time I had opened the case after one year. Didn't have much time to clean then since I had to post those pics. BTW I am grateful to this forum for not letting me buy that basic card. GTS 450 is excellent for my resolution.

PS- Happy New Year to TechPowerUp Forum!

Oh comm'on I'm not gonna open my case especially to let everyone see that its clean. How many times do I have to tell that I have cleaned it up. I never disassembled it but I used q-tips like a member suggested. And now I'm not gonna open it for a long time I guess and so I think it will be again like in those pics FYI
ps:I never had spider webs or cobwebs or whatever in my cabinet except dirt so stop joking around and making a fool of yourself
And if I may request, I want this thread to be locked as I need no further help.
