COD4 on Windows 7 kick for disallowed program/driver

hey everyone,
i just installed cod4 on my laptop through steam and i keep getting kicked by punk buster for a disallowed program/driver about 10 minutes into the game. how do i fix this?

Try updating punk buster. Google if your unsure how.

Punk buster in cod4 is a real pain in the arse these days. Kicks players left right & centre for no good reason :ohwell:

I just updated it last night, and it says that I have the most recent version.

Okay, well it doesn't kick me anymore.....but now I have another problem. When I start the game and hit refresh servers, it instantly finishes refreshing and doesn't list any servers

if you have rivatuner/evga precison/msi afterburner (or any FPS display) enable stealth mode in the on screen display server

I have this problem all the time too. I have encountered it in windows 7 and xp. I had updated it before but i checked for updates last night and it seems that they must have came out with a new one or something. I have also had to go in and save a page manually into my cod4 folder for it to work. Its a real pain trying to get cod 4 to work on this

Great that the problem's gone. However it might well return. Laptop drivers tend to be really out of date and this might cause Punkbuster to fuck up. What graphics chipset do you have? What laptop make and model is it?

If it's an old one, there's a patch you can apply to the latest drivers. I forget what it's called now, but I'll look it up when I get home later.

I had the problem and had to shut off the community overlay feature of Steam to play.
