I agree with xBruce88x. That's what I tried to explain earlier.
These are the main components I have:
And of course the cables. They don't have to cost much. Cheap ones are as good as expensive ones.
I think the switch is pretty good. The splitter is okay but it does the job, at least. The switching may take a few seconds for me, but it may also be that my screen is slow, or both. The image is crystal clear with HDMI, however.
Since I have a regular PC screen, I have only 1x HDMI input which I use for pretty much everything.
Game consoles > Switch > Splitter > Capture device > Screen
Game consoles > Switch > Splitter > Screen
Computer > Screen
As you can see, I'm one switch short. I could get another cheap switch, but the volume control on my screen isn't great. I need to keep it at 1%
and lower the volume in-game by ~60%. Maybe my canalphones are just very sensitive. That's why I am thinking about getting an A/V receiver. Then I'll be able to easily switch between the game consoles, computer and capture device output, and be able to adjust the audio volume with a knob. The only problem I have is that they are large and expensive!
If I didn't make any mistakes, this is how I would like to have it in the end:
