Windows 7 on my system?

Is it worth upgrading my system from XP to Windows 7? I am worried that I may get performance decrease when playing games. I am not sure if dual core CPU is good enough for 7.

Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core (3.2 G Hz)
HD 4870
4 GB ram

Win7 updates worth considering

In benchmark programs you might notice a reduction. But in games themselves it's about the same. Just make sure you get the Application compatibility update, GPU heavy load update, DX11 update, DxDiag DDI fix. This should all be in SP1 though (released on the 22nd of this month).
