After EVGA's release of its GeForce GTX 460 2WIN dual-GPU graphics card earlier this week, Galaxy wasn't going to sit back. The company rushed in with pictures of its own dual-GeForce GTX 460 graphics card. The card is still in the works, and Galaxy was only able to display its PCB. Galaxy chose a milky-white PCB, which uses two GF104 cores in an internal SLI, powered by a strong VRM circuitry. Each GPU has 336 CUDA cores, and is wired to 1 GB of GDDR5 memory over a 256-bit wide memory interface.

Further, both display outputs of each GPU is wired out in the form of DVI connectors, making the card a single-piece 3D Vision Surround solution. Interestingly, Galaxy chose a bridge chip other than nForce 200 to run the SLI on a stick solution. If Galaxy's implementation clicks, then every AIC partner with its own R&D could work on their own dual-GPU cards, currently, they're held back by non-supply of nForce 200.

That would look sexy as f**k with some nice waterblocks on it, shame they're going to cover it all up with a big heatsink no doubt, so kinda pointless paying a premium for the white pcb.

A card like this should have 2gb ram imo 1gb is going to hamper 2560x1440+ res its like putting 1gb on the gtx580/6990.

but are they ever going to release it to the general public or keep it exclusive limited edition like all their other white PCB cards ?

if it really 10% more powerfull than 580 and priced under $500 then there will be something more important than just being late..

Please please let it have 2gb of ram / GPU. 1gb is just not enough for multi-monitor gaming.

Can someone tell me why the heck they use a chip to connect the two GPUs.
Cant they simply connect them without the shitty chip which spoils the Aesthetics of the PCB.

A PCI-Express bridge has always been necessary to connect multi-GPUs in one card. It's not there to make the GPUs communicate with each other, it's there to receive the data from both GPUs and transmit it to a single PCI-Express connection (to the motherboard).
Kind of a multiplexer, or mux, if you're familiar with electronics' terms.

Besides, the "aesthetics of the PCB" is hardly a main concern, nor it should ever be. That thing is supposed to go inside a case, for god's sake. Want aesthetics? Buy a painting, or a designer's lamp.

Why are manufacturers coming with their own dual-GPU cards? Although this card paired up with a black Gigabyte P67 board and a white case like the Fractal R3 would look amazing.

Who in the right mind will pay for this more than two separate gtx 460 .This should be like 300-350$ at most to sell.

Nice, digging the white PCB. :)
As for who would pay for this card? Someone who wants more power than a GTX 580, but doesn't want to break the bank buying a GTX 590. For people with matx motherboards, this could be a nice buy... reasonable price for a dual gpu card.

This won't be faster than a GTX580.

At least, not at the quality settings/resolution that are supposedly being applied when a GTX580 is being used.

Why two 460's? Why Galaxy? Why now? Did you someone go on vacation and delay the project for 6 months?

As talked about in the thread about the eVGA card. They used GTX460 cores because they are over supplied with them and the GTX560 core is pin compatible with the GTX460 core(because they are the same core), so once they are out of GTX460 cores they can just slap two GTX560 cores on the card, call it something new, and re-release it with a price hike with no cost for re-engineering.

Who in the right mind will pay for this more than two separate gtx 460 .This should be like 300-350$ at most to sell.

The same people that would pay more for any of the other dual-GPU cards than for just two of the single cards.

The PCB layout seems very erratic and very hastily designed. It is definitely a 10 layer PCB, no other way to connect the memory chips on the back otherwise. From the looks of it they just tried to mash all the parts together in the shortest amount of time. It's gonna be expensive to produce and time consuming therefore don't expect large supplies.
OTOH it's shorter than the EVGA version and will be accessible to users with smaller cases.
