did you seriously give this a try?

yes. I looked in windows. I also renamed the bios in d.bin

And i also tried the parameters in this threat you posted before.

Thanks for your help but the problem still not solved.

well I used up my bank of brain cells today, sry bud, hopefully someone can help

One last try though...

When at the DOS prompt, type atiflash /h (or -h)

it will show you every command you can use with atiflash, see if there is anything in there you can use.

Have you tried doing it in Windows?

Open a command prompt and use ATIWinflash.exe like you would the normal DOS version. Try unlocking it first.

Also did you use the -pcie command to get the proper enumeration number for the slot the card is in?

get in touch with MSI see if they will reset the BIOS for you if you send it back, covering all postage costs etc.

why you have no warranty

He has no warranty because he flashed the bios, u could try return it to the store as a faulty card and hope they dont check or have the means to check the bios, if not like mentioned above try Msi but the warranty is void with a flashed bios but they might try fix it for u for a price.

6950 Frozr flash

RMA it, if the bios is messed up chances are they will just give you a new one, the Bios file you have listed above is the same as my 6950 anyway so it all looks legit (like you havnt flashed it) Under NO circumstances tell them that you tried to flash it. (They wont even look at it) just RMA is with no boot message. Give them nothing to use against you, I just RMAD my card and got it back within 2 weeks

6950 Flash

In situations like this i always to the same thing (revert everything back to defualt) First I would update your mainboard bios (flash it to the lateest) After flash dont change anything in bios. After flash put in your working card boot windows, after windows boots shut down, put in your r6950 ASWELL and boot windows again, Load up ATI FLash do this

atiflash -unlockrom 1

then atiflash -p -f 1 cayman.bin

Make sure you have to 6950 in the master PCI EXPRESS SLOT, Dont put it in the second one. Also make sure the adapter corresponds to the right card. Had the same problem for some strange reason it wouldnt flash it in the second slot (maybe something to do with the PCIEXx8 i dont know. I did these steps and it worked. The only reason i flashed my mainboard was the make sure all my overclock and settings were set to default, Incase my PCIEX slot was disabled or something. after the flash everything would be factory reset. It wont help with the actuall flash but its 1 less thing that you can rule out. (also new bioses are better anyway).

i also flashed my mb too.

the probelm is, when i put the card in master slot, the computer wont boot.

----

i saw on my twin frozr 2 OC r6950 the connecting pins of the dual-bios switch.
the question is, is there a second bios on the card, and what does the switch connect on position 2? one last try, but i f mess this up the card is ready for trash

Twin Frozr DONT HAVE Dual bioses, So there shouldnt be a switch there, you might have to wait till the 6970 Twin Frozr comes out. If there is a switch you have to boot the card in position 2 then in Windows switch it back to postion 1 and flash. BUT there shouldnt be one there on the Twin Frozr

if you got that card to flash it then you should have done some research first and found that you cant flash them.

Send it back and get a rev1 card

flashing a twin frozr to a non twin frozr?

Just a question I've been thinking about trying to flash my 6950 twin frozr to a 6970 twin frozr, did you use a reference 6970 bios or a twin frozr bios?
I've read that flashing wont work on non-reference 6950 cards, like this twin frozr. But people (in reviews) have raised the question -what would happen if you tried doin this with MSI's own 6970 (twin frozr)bios.

For what I've read here , its a risk of damaging the card, and no way of reflashing it back to its original bios? Sorry for your loss.

Best wishes, Cold

Good, point, havent checked for a while, seriously thought they had
We'll just have to wait then..

Anyway, this card overclocks past the reference 6970 on its original bios, I think I'll stick to it.... shaders'n stuff probably locked in hardware right?

CP , (not the desease..)

annonym: exactly the same problem... EXACTLY. I think we broke our exact same cards on the exact same day by the exact same method... weird :s

Can I just say, did you ever get it working? and did you send it to MSI? if so, what did they say?

Thanks in advance
