Ok Guys, im thinking about playing around with a second 4870X2 and i was wondering what PSU would i need to power both of these cards? I was thinking the Corsair HX-850 PSU would be plenty to run both cards in my system, no OC will be done.

600 Watts or higher from Enermax, FSP, Seasonic or any 80 Plus certified brand.

Edit: Go with 800 watts or higher as others suggested.

IMO, I don't think I would be trying to run two 4870X2s on a 600 Watt supply.

My Powercolor 4870x2 would draw 27.5 amps on the 12v at 100% GPU use on stock clocks and that works out to be 330 Watts.
So, 2 of them suckers would, at least, be near double that.

And, the power consumption here for this Sapphire 4870X2 sorta confirms my suspicions. And, if you notice the peak results, it is even greater.
850 should be fine, even at full load you may peak at that which the Corsair can sustain just fine.

So, I would have to go with mlee49's answer on this one.:toast:

Just a FYI for OP. Your Corsair is made by Seasonic. So if you can pickup Seasonic brand itself and are able to save some money, then go with that.

Mostly all computer parts are made in China...order right away from ebay and order from china for all you can. You gonna skip those dealers who boost the prices.

Are you kidding me? we pay taxes on our taxes on our taxes Thats true to<

Same here, we pay 20% on everything we earn (earn more than 35K and pay 40%) then we pay 17.5% on everything we buy, we also pay 1k a year council tax, road tax, savings tax, inheritence tax etc etc not to mention duty on fuel/alcohol and cigarettes. Actually most of the £1.37 per litre of fuel is duty I think about 65-70% is duty. Oh we also pay national insurance which is also compulsory and comes straight out of our wage as well as income tax before we can even see it, so the average UK worker pays 30% out of their wages every month and then more and more tax on everything they buy :banghead: :nutkick:

I love taxes, I would hate to have to pay for my medical care, schools (we don't pay anything for collage/universitys) and .. whatnot.

Yea sounds like us. I dont know all of the figures, i know we pay 52% tax on fuel, 33% for people that earn 30grand a yr and it goes up and up the more you earn. We get taxed on the money we earn, that goes into Super then Taxed when it comes out when you retire, so thats 3 times the same money is taxed before you can have it when you retire. I pay land tax of 1200 a yr and thats considered cheap. States taxes of 10% called the GST. Yea we pay tax on everything, i cant think of anything we dont

ordering something off of e-bay from China???

That's what I always do for thermal paste, cpu coolers, and many other computer parts and I get the same parts you get for my people for sometimes 10X less the price shipping included :)

If you are lucky enough you find a supplier that can get you the same videocards as in america brand new without the sticker of the company that boost up the prices. Just need to seek deep and know how international business is rolling :D Trust me on that one ;)
