Ok, now dont get me wrong Corsair make great cases as well as great stable ram. What i disagree with is their power supply lineup.
Back in 2007 every reviewer, magazine and website raved about the quality of their power supply units. But i think their time in the 'power supply' spotlight has come to an end.
Let me tell you my story. In 2008 i invested in their top of the line Corsair HX-1000 Power Supply Unit. The same unit within the year died. I thought every company produces the occasional 'bad' product. I let them off the hook for this time.
In 2010 i built a pc for my parents using a Corsair HX-650 Power Supply...the same unit died within a year too. At this stage i was having doubts about Corsair's claim about 'quality power supplies.'
2 weeks ago i built my sister a new pc. At the time the only available 400-500W unit soultion in stock at the local store was a newer Corsair power unit known as the Corsair CX-430 Power Supply. Can you believe my luck but it died in 2 days!! Even worse is the fact that my friend is a special electrician and he had a look at the unit and said the power ratings were nowhere near that of what Corsair specified...the whole total wattage didnt even come close to 430W.
moral of the story: dont always believe in name brands. Since a hat-trick of Corsair power supply deaths i have switched to Enermax which has not failed me since
