I can understand the itch for quadfire and an upgrade, but why don't you look into other options at this stage? hec one 5970 should net you more performance than 2x 4870x2's...

Depending on the game, i have had a few guys on here with there 2 4870X2's and he has stated that he can out perform a 5970 in some games, so thats not a bad upgrade for $120?

4870x2 quadfire is rubbish m8

Not going by the later review on it at Guru3D, they did a updated review using new drivers and a new CPU and the performance increase was very good.

Just a reminder guys this is a WTB thread, thanks for the comments but they should realy be kept to ya selfs :toast:

you're right - the 4870x2 quadfire is there. But the drivers are still old. Someone needs to do a benchmark with 11.2 or later.

Yea i have to agree there, im sure i found one, ill just have to keep digging i guess.

Ill be happy to do one and see if they scale alot better then they used to, the performance increase for COD4 was good.

Why would you need 2 cards for cod? 1 card would be plenty.its hardly worth buying 2 of them based on them scaling Good in one game lol

I didn't say i just need a second card for COD, i have many many games and i want to just play around with 2 cards to see how they go now with updated drivers etc.

With newer titles these cards might scale even better then before, and like i said above the drivers they used are old and i cant find the review i found with newer drivers.

Also im not buying two, i allready have one, and i want a second one since now there dirt cheap.

2 cards power consumpt is about 750w you will be putting that psu under so much strain

seen as a 5850 performs the same as a x2 i would get 2 of them and sell the x2

they can be had for about £95 new now

One card can be run fine on a 620w PSU, and thats the whole system, so 850 should be fine, and i don't over clock.

Actually a 4870X2 is just a tad faster then a 5870, and 95 pounds here is like $170 and i can get a 4870X2 for $50 less if i realy wanted to.

Hello. I had 2 4870x2's with a I5-750 @ 4.0GHz and it was fast as can be. I also had it running on a Corsair HX850 with no issues at all. Everything overclocked heavy too with 4gb of Mushkin, 3 hard drives and 8 fans. That power supply is underrated IMO. Anyhow i switched to a 5850 and i can say the one 5850 seemed to play my games better than the 2 4870x2's. Slower in benchmarks but games were much "smoother".
Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Thanks for the info, always good to have someone talk about there experience with two of these cards (dont see many) My 1 4870X2 has run perfect in every game for the past 16months, been very pleased with it, and with every new driver that comes out it has got faster and faster. So with the price of them now been very cheap i thought ahh heck why not see how two of them go with newer drivers. If it doesn't work out to good then ill just put the other card in a back up rig i have here :)
