Read above. "If card A..." etc. The fact is that he had a valid point and you complicated things for no reason.

compare an overclocked 560 ti to an overclocked AMD not perfect but compare like a Lightning model to a power edition or something blah blah blah and just cross compare.

save up some more and hit a 580 or equivalent AMD solution, even if it's CrossFire

it's also depends on the driver and the game, when u say GTX 570 vs. HD 6970 bcs some games Nvidia win in fps and others ATi/AMD wins.

only thing i got from that the 5870 makes the 69XX look like poop
Hehehehe that's true

but i guess the 2gb 6950 that can flash to 6970 looks the best..... do they still sell this on newegg??

No idea, i'm in SA, I don't ever look at newegg.

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/307449-33-6970-noise

But from what i've seen in reviews as well, is that the 570 is a lot quieter.

For those of you that don't quite know how Decibels work here's a quick lesson:

If you take the decibel "rating" of a sound and it gives you 50dB's,
Then you take another reading of a different sound and it gives you 53dB's

IT USUALLY MEANS THE SECOND SOUND IS AROUND 10 TIMES LOUDER
hence an increase of 3dB's from a reference point (lets say 50dB's) will result in --->10 times louder.
but an increase in 6dB's from 50dB's (making it 56dB's) means that sound is 10x10= 100 times louder.

 So all i'm saying is don't get a card that has a few frames more than a card that is 10 times quieter (your ears will bleed, hehehehee x 1.25 million).

also having many "loud" components running in a pc WILL compound the overall noise coming from the pc.

Hope you'll understand, if not i'll elaborate more, if needed.

:D

Peace

DOM there is a big chance that they can unlock but there are still some with error and others simply refuse but the chance should be bigger to get unlocked if u can't unlucky like my cousin with his Club-3D Radeon HD 6950 1GB it refuses

Actually these centrifugal fans push incredible amouns of air and they are still relatively silent.
At least my HD5850 was until it started rattling as all of them do on Radeon cards...
So i went for the Vapor-X cooler on HD6870. Which sounded like jet engine taking off...
Now i have a HD6950 with TwinFrozr III cooler and it's like i'm using a completelly different computer. There is some noise from it but it has a different pitch and is nowhere near as loud as the overhyped Vapor-X cooler. Plus it cools far far better.

I love the centrifugal full exhaust coolers but after seeing how poor quality all of these fans are, i'll be avoiding them... Honestly, i don't know anyone with HD5000/HD6000 that fan hasn't started rattling.

I happen to have the MSI power edition 570 for sale, OCed to 900mhz it beats the stock 580 in some games. The only reason I'm downgrading to the 560 ti, the 570 is overkill for my res and I need the money.
Its a great card, 900mhz, 45% fan, and 75C for Metro, I had the game fully maxed and it hung between 25 and 60 fps the whole time I played.

if you want cool and quiet get a MSI Twin Frozr III supposedly some of those unlock its rare but a possibility id research it more to be honest.

6900 series for me doesnt rattle at all cards are great fans are pretty damn good.

That said in Xfire the cards get a bit loud Single card no problems at all

to bad there isnt a 2560mb GTX 570 that would be kick ass since they overclock so nicely.

the review I linked, W1z's review, doesn't support that conclusion. If the 570 really ran out of memory it would have dropped down to an incredibly low frame rate while the 6970 still had playable frames.

While the 6970 does do better at the top res in shogun 2, it seems more gpu related than memory related. And for metro both cards run outta HP at the highest res, not memory.

so memory isn't a factor unless he's planning on using eyefinity, where the tri monitor resolution will likely use more than the 1.2GB the 570 has. But again at that point you'd need more gpu HP to push that res, so you'd need 6970 crossfire, which isn't in the budget for the OP.
