Must be the newer drivers then, I was just able to hit about 30k with Vantage with my 5970 and D0

i have driver 11.4.
ram @ 1602mhz
cpu @ 4.2ghz-1.35 volts

A little disappointed considering its only an extra 10000 points, but I guess its not all bad

I've never seen the test go that smoothly before

HHAHA NICE highest vantage GPU score i remember for my single 5850 was something like 19000gpu score it was @1000/1330

Its the best I have managed so far, I was tempting myself with a 980X or a 990X but decided against it and just stuck with 2 920 D0's instead

The raw power of the 5970 is a great step up from your current card, even if you play a game that doesn't work well with crossfire, since one 5870 core should still be better. You'll need a new power supply to handle that card, though.

Do you think there would be any risk trying it with my current PSU? I know it is probably underpowered, but it's worth a shot if there's no possibility of blowing the PSU or card, right?

ya, that's why i'm looking into it. I Don't really want to go for a whole system overhaul for the possibility of a few dollars a day. But an upgrade that i'd be happy with even if the whole "system" failed would be worthwhile in my book.

Your PSU its not enough tu run the HD5970 , this card consumes a lot of power , and more even under full load , or playing games , i suggest u get another psu ( branded ) ,

if u dont get a new psu maybe the pc will shut down when playing games or stresing the card , like me when i had the GTX 5870 and a 400 PSU not branded!

Ha, due to the colouring on the guys post, i missed a 1 at the start of his price... i thought he was selling it for 5.5million ($275) he's actually selling it for 15.5million which is about $750, the ass!

Thanks for all the advice though, i'll definitely put some cash aside for a new psu if i can get my hands oon a new mobo that supports CF for a second 6850.
