i am still wondering if i should buy a used 150gb VelociRaptor or buy a new RE4 or Black disk or just go SSD but again SSD costs and lower than 64gb will be to small atm i am using 42,7gb of a 138gb partition.

i want a drive that can run like 24-7 bcs i only reboot my pc for like updates and that otherwise it's turned on 24-7 so what will be the best choice bcs ino that Adata writes that there is 1 million hours MTBF on their drives, is that life of the SSD or? :confused:

but how is performance between RE4 250/500gb and WDC Black 750gb all 3 disc's got 64mb cache and 7200rpm and when u put them against a WD VelociRaptor 150gb 10000rpm & 16mb cache?

ino that SSD got hell of a performance and i have been looking at

Adata S599 64GB
64GB(34nm) performance
Read : Up to 280MB/S
Write : Up to 270MB/S

but still the SSD is around 97euro if i order it from germany which is 10euro cheaper than my country.

it will be put in the system in my specs and i use it for new games, surfing and all that, so what will be the best choice i mean performance vs. life bcs i don't want to spend around 100euro and than find out that a SSD don't live that long bcs i run it 24-7.

I run the SSD in my lappy 24/7 and have yet to run into issues. For a desktop, you can always dump the constant write folders over to a standard drive, but again, in my lappy its all on one drive with no issues to report yet. 1 year and going strong still!

Well, I have around 1850 hours on my OCZ Vertex 2 SSD and she is still ok.

A 1,000,000 hours for a MTBF is, like, 114 years, I believe. A year has about 8765 hours in it.

The life of, either, a HDD or SSD is based, partly, on chance; warranty is the key here IMO.
It is, sorta difficult to base it on performance vs. life, as the two are not really related that closely, as any device can fail at any time.
Fast or slow, either could die in a minute or last 10 years or more.

If you want a drive for access and/or speed, as an OS drive and little else... SSD, unless you wanna spend a lot for large capacity SSDs for storage, too.
However, if you need storage space and decent speed in one drive... HDD with a large cache and low access time - in the size required for the need.

still thinking, but maybe i should just go with the flow and order a Adata S599 64gb from Caseking.de on monday and have it like 2~3days after ^^;

i have only been looking at price so far on SSD and the Adata S599 looking good price vs. performance actually and i got Adata memory too and they work like a clam so i don't think i will go wrong with the Adata S599 it should have the SandForce 32nm chip ^^;

If you have the cash, go for the SSD. But me, I'd say get a cheap (but reliable) HDD to get by for a while, then get a SSD when the prices fall. My gut is telling me the prices will drop in Q1 2012 ;)

the money the S599 64gb costs i can live with, i don't wanna spend more than that, on a new drive, when we talk SSD.

I honestly think you should either take the plunge to ssd or just get a black drive or the samsung drives if they are available to you.

There are many tweaks you can do to cut down the size you use on an ssd. For example; my main system is only using approx 20GB of space. I have the necessities for programs including a FULL version of office pro I believe it is (which is not sm) and other programs and this is all I'm using.
You will see others doing similar.

So you can put more on a sm ssd than you think. I honestly do not think the raptors for the price will gain you anything over currend hdd's. The new drives are a lot better than they used to be

I got two SSDs and one HDD. A 64gb SSD for OS and a few programs that benefit from it (like Photoshop), a 180gb SSD purely for games, and a 1TB HDD purely for storage. I'm doing fine with that combination. The OS SSD is the "oldest" SSD, running since half a year pretty much 24/7. The second SSD is three months old. No issues whatsoever.
