BIOS SEARCH : Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6950 TOXIC 2048MB ?

Does anyone know if this bios would work on a reference 6950 ? and does anyone know if its still using the stock 6950 voltage 1.100v ?
also does anyone know if the fan speed is better or improved over reference bios speed

and lastly where can i get this bios. ?

You should be able to open them with RBE and see what voltages are. Sorry I use Nvidia cards so other than those links, I am sort of out of ATI/AMD specific info.

As far as if it will work, I don't want to say yes exactly, but you realize if you can do the clocks the Toxic runs, you can just use RBE to adjust your stock bios to those parameters

judging by Sapphires past cards, the Toxic may be non reference using a Vapor-chamber cooling solution, so the fan profile may not be any better than reference cards, but the cooler will be better resulting in better fan speeds/noise. voltages = ?, flashing the BIOS to a ref card = wouldn't recommend it until confirmed the Toxic is also ref (but is probably isn't)

Just overclock your current card, or is that too simple a solution?

those are 6970 links. The reason why i want the toxic version bios is because its 6950 reference bios with 880 / 1300 clocks with 6950 v memory voltage.

cooler looks reference only and it uses 4 and 6 pin reference again

it does, but they call their cards Toxic for a reason, and that reason normally means non-ref, quieter, no volt mods, but clocked higher than the reference models.

someone may be come along and shed more light, but my 5850 Toxic is definitely non ref, default overclocked from reference, with no volt modding/tweaking, and its quieter with the vapor-chamber cooling.

and the rule is, don't cross flash BIOS's ref and non-ref cards else you are likely to brick it.

Again I don't know enough about which versions are reference or not, so as I and others mentioned, you can simply clock yours, and if you want more volts, that's what RBE is for

At least ensure the card is fully stable at 880/1300 before attempting any sort of bios flash.

RBE does not allow volt modding on my card.

tbh, it's probably wise to use MSI AB for now, set your overclocks and fan profile and hit apply (ensure the oc on startup is activated/lit)

again i already am doing that im trying to streamline a bios that will not require me to use over clocking tools. as they can actually cause microstuttering.

if you use fan profiles they can or when you drop clocks can cause mini stutters

Microstuttering is a phenomenon that is linked only to multiple GPU setups AFAIK. It has to do with a slight delay during refresh and alternating frame drawing between GPU's that causes a tiny micro stutter. Fan profiles shouldn't cause any performance drops at all either, but some cards might have wonky settings for different 2d and 3d clock speeds and such. That might cause issues.

I agree though - you need to make absolutely sure that the card would be 24/7 stable on those clocks with that voltage. Every card is different, and toxic cards are higher quality chips in most cases. They might run on lower voltage with higher clocks, while your card might fail at the same settings.


Again, I have to agree that you should just save and modify your current stock BIOS to fit your exact wants and needs. It is not wise to flash with a BIOS meant for a different card that's not proven with yours.

Otherwise, you're probably going to just have to flash it and see. If it doesn't work flash it back.
