ASRock didn't get itself involved. It just sensed the situation and spammed us with the same PCIe Gen3 PR material it sent us months ago when it launched its Gen 3 motherboards. The same "Gen3 gets you laid" stuff.

Whoa, whoa, wait a second. Gen3 gets you laid?! Ill tattoo a ASRock logo on my face if thats true.

What end result does MSI have for "trying" to slam gigabyte other than nipping at it's heals to get attention from the public. Then when Msi got that attention in this forum it goes off on it's members cause they were smart enough to question the "hidden" company rep... Lots of shady business if you ask me and makes me not want to deal with them at all

I like these two companies slinging mud at eachother. It shows that both these companies are hungry and want to cater to the public. This also debunks marketing gimmick and i now know if i buy a gigabyte board it will run at 8x 3.0 which is 16x 2.0 and only on 1 slot. The more bickering the more truth will come out and consumers win.

Yesh, that, to me, IS involved. I am refering to the original PR stuff knocking Gigabyte and ASUS.

I am pretty sure that situations like this is why companies don't comment on unreleased products. This is one situation where they feel justified to comment on PCIe 3.0, because the products are "out", but really, there is not one complete PCIe 3.0 solution, from CPU/Controller, to board, to PCIe 3.0 device.

All we have is boards. And everyone can't seem to agree what makes up PCIe 3.0...33% of any problem does not make for a good answer..only 33% of an answer.

If they cannot agree, then what does this mean for compaitbiltiy with PCIe 3.0 devices for the consumer?

Is there differing PCIe 3.0 specifications? BEcuase this stuff seems to hint there may be, or, in the very least, since OEMs cannot agree what PCIe 3.0 is, board-wise, does any such specification even exist?

I mean, OK, i know PCI-SIG as said it's piece already. But because most info isn't public domain, this is almost like these guys are commenting on stuff not out yet.

I dunno WTF to think...realyl what i want to do is ask each and every one of thees companies for thier PCIe 3.0 boards, and do a big round up of what each OEM calls PCIe 3.0, and what the real physical differences are.

I do not agree with your synopsis of what went down, but I do agree with the sentiment.

No it doesn't. It delegitimizes (is that a word?) both companies. Its stupid. Its like the old days of Sega vs. Nintendo. Remember the tag line "Genesis does what Nintendon't". Its trash marketing and it shows nether company has anything innovative to offer....OR they do and their marketing department is full of A-holes.

As a matter of fact I know Gigabytes department is full of them. They stole my TPU BC2 logo.

next time sign it or GTFO lols... pretty much what i was wanting to say about mudslinging ect... to the point of sending a rep in the forums to spread the drama

As long as they don't mention anyone, not even "our competitors", it doesn't count as an involvement. All they said was along the lines of "there seems to be a heightened sense of public interest in Gen3, here, chew on our Gen 3 PR material all over again."

Besides, it doesn't matter. Nobody actually wrote about that.

I was refering to this(SORRY, but replacing on letter from OEM name with an asterisk is no diff than any of this, IMHO. They even directly called out ASUS):

this thread is already turning out awesome.

really

Where else could you go for so much knowledge and entertainment at the same time? It like college all over again. Isn't the internet just the greatest! What would we be doing without it? Thanks. Al Gore and his college budies for inventing the world wide web!!!!

Yup. Just like I said. Genesis does what Nintendon't. Trash is trash. They all need a new marketing division. Ill be happy to take over any of them and show them how its done with class.

If you want me to, I can put you in touch with them (all the board makers that is), so you better freshen up that CV...

Ah. I see. But once the cat is out of the bag, it's very hard to get it back in.;)

Even the fonts they use suck. I have a hard time believing anything written in a crappy font.

I will just sit back and watch Gen 2.0 still be enough for current cards.

A third challenger appears!

I take issue with Gigabytes use of the phrase "PCIe graphics slot" when in fact, they are not limited to graphic cards! Your marketing is bunk, bunk I say!

That sucks man..

Is it just me or is Gigabytes defense rather...weak? MSI's call on bluff still pretty much holds as far as I'm concerned, not that I'm pro-either company, but either I read the news wrongly, or there seems to be pretty little truth in Gigabytes PCI-E 3.0 ready claim, it doesnt fully support it.

Dammit, am i the only one that still hopes, that all of these split-tongues, some day will be not existant anymore, because they have eaten each other alive?

I want Bulldozer, for months on,and its gets delayed,delayed,delayed... like airplane flights during a snowstorm.

This stresses me out already..... and then some trivial people try to promote some (currently) trivial technology, and cry and shake their fingers in the air over each other, dramatizing each other,
as they are all histrionic liars.

Give me Fire, and give me Ammo, please.

I shall end it.:banghead:

That was not a generalisation on humanity, rather on egoistic, materialistic businesspeople, that sold their soul for printed paper. And dumb people, which think they are smart, even if they continously fail... and the worst of them all, that are the people, that are both. ;)

Im sorry:o... i was an AMD person for quite a few years... and if AMD takes SO long to release something which should have been there for years already... then, that makes me a little aggressive:mad:.... but should i find out, that in all this time, with all that R&D, they again created a deadbirth like the phenom 1 was, then i will openly burn my AMD lanyard and document it for future generations!:banghead::banghead::banghead: So be it!;)
Bulldozer is a plague already, maybe AMD intended that...:D
