Hi. At the moment I'm building systems for people and I've been wondering; are Intel motherboards any good? I've heard that they are reliable but the system I'm building is for a gamer wanting an i5 2500k and GTX 560 ti. Is the DP67BG good for gaming and is it a good motherboard?

Just another question; does it have updated bios or the classic type?

Cheers :toast:

They have a history of producing good motherboards IMO, some better than others, some with overclocking features, some not so much.

They have produced some enthusiast boards like 975x (I think that was the model)... and other barebones, no frills.

If you've got a specific model in mind, download the manual, plus google it and look for reviews, you will likely find what you can and can't do with a given board.

Edit: Here's a review... http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=647&Itemid=69

Looks like that board is their "best" among the LGA 1155 boards they have so far. There aren't any Z68 boards from the Extreme Series yet.

The review was generally good, but the overclocking features a little lack-luster.

I liked the silkscreened skull on the board with flashing LED eye sockets, LOL. Who would think Intel would be so non-conservative?

Intel tech guy "please can we put the glowing skull on it" , intel product director "oh stop crying and put it on".

I'm probably never going to use smart response and integrated graphics. P67 is good enough for any gamer.

Its very board-specific, they produce a lot of hits and a lot of misses, but they generally produce serviceable goods. They don't make anything that is utter crap that is not priced accordingly.

Some of their "extreme" boards are a bit overpriced though and buying a cheaper version of the same chipset will usually get you an equivalent bit of kit, just without the not so useful bells and whistles, virtually no one uses the advanced features anyway.
