You should try Opera, I never feel any need for hw rendering on any pages. Tried IE9, Chrome and FF with HW rendering on, and sometimes it still feel faster on Opera (IE9 with hw accel off is horrendous though), they work magic.

That's true, but if Opera would enable HW acceleration then it should beat Firefox Chrome, IE9, etc even more in all scenarios :D

The only situation Opera is slower than Firefox here is in pages with many images for example the game Screenshot thread here.

Maybe because you have a much more powerful computer than mine.

In my case I like smooth scrolling specially when scrolling using the middle click and moving the mouse up/down. But I tried disabling it a anyway and improved a bit.

hmm it use same amount of cpu scrolling that page and tpu homepage, but maybe you're right. hw acceleration and webgl support won't be long now for opera anyway, there's mysterious blank about:gpu page on latest pre-alpha release. :)

Haha I will have take that back what I said before Opera being slower in pages with many images, disabling Cool'n'quiet made it being the fastest and smoothest one even with smooth scroll. I will make a list sorting browser speeds here (taken from my experience in my computer).

1. Opera 12.00 prealpha (after tweaking the page loading delay to 0)
2. Internet Explorer 9 (loading pages is slow but scrolling and animations are fast)
3. Firefox 10 alpha (after tweaking the page loading delay and enabling pipelining)
4. Chrome 16 (ppl say it's the fastest but here it's the slowest :ohwell: GPU compositing is enabled.)
