Motherboard (AM3+) advice on a budget gaming build.

Just need a bit of advice on a build im looking to do, within the next couple of months.

Im still running one of the first conroe e6300 c2d @3ghz, with 2gb of ram @ 960mhz. Its starting to show its age now.

Im pretty sure im going to go for a phenom x4 955BE to replace the c2d.

8GB of RAM. Not sure on the RAM choice yet, but its going to be a PC3-12800 kit. Im looking at the G.skill ripjawX as I can get a very low price on it. But this may change depending on what kind of memory chips are the best to use with an AMD setup.

Im not sure of my motherboard yet. Im looking for a decent AM3+ gigabyte board. But anything that is durable, with good overclocking features/potential, I will definitely consider it.

Budget for the CPU, mobo and ram is about £250ish. Which I think is achievable....with a bit of patience and shopping around.

As for graphics, Im looking at the 6770. My budget for the card is around £100.

If anyone could give me advice on what kind of motherboard I should look at it would be greatly appreciated. Any advice on anything that will give me better performance at better value for money really.

The rest of the components are being taken from the existing setup.

Another dilema is - Do I buy the graphics card first and slot it into my existing setup, as I can afford it?
Or do I wait a few weeks to buy the mobo, ram and cpu and use my existing graphics card?

Cheers

I would say buy the card now and enjoy it, till you can get the other parts.

Why just AMD? Don't like Intel?

I don't know how the prices are in the UK, but here intel beats amds offerings across the board at every price point. Look http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/118?vs=121

That's a $57 chip creaming a $63 AMD chip. Doesn't matter that the AMD chip can overclock, it'll never close that gap. Board prices are about the same or lower for Intel. You'd have to REALLY like AMD to choose them for this budget.

I would go intel. But prices for the i3s are stupid here in the uk (from all the websites ivebeen looking at). I can get a decent amd setup cheaper. If I could get an i3 setup cheaper, I would go for it :)

I am super pleased with my motherboard, M5A78L-M/USB3. Seems like a decent overclocker, although I haven't played around too much, but it did unlock the forth core on my x3 and went up to 3.7Ghz without blinking, also my 1333Mhz memory (Kingston Valueram and Corsair XMS mixed) was benchmark-stable at 1600Mhz, although not game stable for some reason.

All in a motherboard for €60.
