No. Not as they are now.
If AMD manages to improve the stepping in addition to the expected 95W TDP in the next few months, yes.

As for raw speed and performance, it doesn't matter to me, as long as it's faster than what I had before.
I went from a 65nm T7500 C2D @2.2 Ghz to a 45nm Phenom II x4 945, that was a 2x-3x performance improvement for me (and the extra performance wasn't really necessary, it just gave me more headroom).
The BD performance is promising, in highly threaded apps and benchmarks with newer code, even with the OS scheduling problem.
So, I can see myself possibly buying one in the next few months, or simply waiting for Piledriver, as either would be an overall performance improvement for me, over my Phenom II. I'm not concerned about gaming framerates, so it would be 'good enough', for me anyway.

I think part of the fact that the hype was so horrible is the fact that we have literally been hearing the words "Bulldozer" being thrown around for about four years now, it seems. :shadedshu

There was no way this thing was going to live up to even half the hype.

I voted no, because I don't have the moneis to buy a new system, for now.
But I will get an AMD system, I really like the motherboard variety and offering. Might not be with a bulldozer, though (PIIx6, or piledriver).

I was looking to switch to the AMD camp for the first time in my life...still thinking about it, but hit the "no" button. I hope that TPU's own review of this thing paints a different picture than all of the other review sites out there, but I'm afraid it won't. My E8400 will suffice for now.

i just read some big sites reviews on the bulldozer.

can someone please show me a review where they used a 6xxx series amd video card for the video/game reviews? i have seen a ton of nvidia 580 and a 5870?!?!?!?

unless i am in my own little world, wasnt one of the things they were toting with the bulldozer that it would have a 80% speed boost when paired with 6xxx series video cards?

Marketing hype? Lies? It doesn't make any difference. Performance is under Phenom II in gaming. End of the story.

I was waiting to see what would happen so i at least had a choice. Anyway if i wait a little more i might be able to pick up a deal or something on an i5 2500k and a motherboard so no i probably wont be going bulldozer.

FX-8120 is £164.99 and the i5 2500k is £167.99 at the same e-tailer.

TBH there isnt anything wrong with my system i just feel like a change and something a little faster.

Bulldozer is a solid beta with some good, some bad, and some WTF. I hope a little polish on the software side, driver update, Win7 update for BD and it should be more consistent.

Hell, maybe a C stepping in the next few months. I don't know. It has potential. I just hope the "real" release yields better overall results.

I already have the FX-8150, so its whatever for me.

Didn't vote yet, want to see the TPU review, whenever it happens.
Hopefully it is comprehensive, and focused mostly on games.

If there is no performance boost with a Windows 7 scheduler patch, then I am thinking i5-2500k or a nice inexpensive used 1366 based i7

It will help performance somewhat, I'm sure it won't work miracles....the next stepping will be the major performance booster. Or rather, I should say, the "efficient" chip. Power consumption seems to be the biggest weak point IMO with BD.

They don't need to beat Intel, I'd be happy to have CPU with 10-20% better IPC performance than their own older offering and with lower power consumption. They did exactly the opposite.
