AMD In for Total Restructuring, Executive Layoffs at Hand

Not as many as go under or end up a shadow of their former selves.

They are already a shadow of their former selves on the CPU side of things. They can't fall much farther. If this effects the quality of their GPUs, I'm gonna be pissed. Hopefully Rory knows what he's doing.

Kick marketing and management in the nuts, i'm sure there engineers are as frustrated as the consumers

Keep the graphics division, add more engineers

It's always nice to see people flock in who haven't read the article or bothered to read the current news

So do you , the article is only a rumour (rumor) so far & nothing more , why any TPU "staff" even bother with rumor articles or anything that can come from S/A or fudz? :shadedshu

I been away for a while whats going on with AMD?
Was Bulldozer a fail?

Yeah, what a rumour! Must be one hell of a rumour to have fooled AMD into believing it.:shadedshu

Try to be an @ss?

You may have link the real deal but still btarunr posted a rumor article instead of the real one...

All people will shift from amd to intel
ha ha ha

probably not

What man would that be? I don't see any names in the article.

Plenty of firms undergo restructuring and make a complete recovery too, that point was invalid.

I believe he was referring to Dirk

it was sad for him to get axed. BD might not be what everyone expected but as someone already mentioned- the APU is working out quite well. AMD returned to profits due to Dirk's leadership

I hate when stupid people are in positions of power...

And you posted your objection some time AFTER the official AMD notice was put up along with Rory's edict....so save the sanctimony and put the effort into comparing time stamps on the articles and your post (Here's the easy version)
In fact, the story went from being "rumour" to "news" on THIS thread three hours before you posted - let alone the Icrontic story I linked to earlier.

BTW: Nice MS Paint skills. Heavy meds uh?

Me too. I'm going to be infuriated if ATI dissolves. They should just back off the ATI team, period. Once we receive news that ATI has completely vanished (like what Creative did to Aureal), I'm done with AMD.

this is just the beginning;remember they had losses only from a few years and a way to cut cost is to fire;just hope they didn't fire a essential brain;we don't need to feel sorry for those fired as they get millions now just to shut up - referring at executives- the fired workers will be in shit as usually ....

we may see also a divided amd to smaller companies who knows

Hopefully they'll trim just the fat and leave the muscle alone...

A shake up is good for AMD. Management is being culled as well. It's not like they're only laying off lower ranked staff.

Zero fat is bad ! Every healthy body must have some fat stored in one place or another. Really, AMD should tread carefully. Layoff too many essentials and the company would become too crippled to compete. NOT something any buyer would want !

From the article:
"The layoffs and other actions are expected to save $200 million in savings in 2012."

So, they'll have less savings? :wtf::confused::laugh:

Maybe be a mis-print or copy error; but, the point is the 200 million in savings.

Many corporations pull this cr*p before the end of the year, so that they can make it look, either, good or have the illusion of such for their books. The survivors can then hope to get a larger sweet bonus, for having increased the bottom-line on paper.

Money is the driving force in that decision. Big dog eats little dog to live.

No way 10% are only executives. This is bad news for many families.

ATI’s and Creative’s intentions are completely different.

Creative’s motives were to acquire the Aureal's technology and assets. Creative had no intention of amalgamating the two brands.

AMD intentions were to step into the CPU market and hence amalgamate the two brands.
