Overclocking E8200 with DDR2 667 RAM?

I have an E8200 CPU and DDR2 667mhz RAM. I am using a Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L motherboard.

Would a voltage of 1.225, FSB of 400 and a multiplier of 8 be a good place to start?

What should I try as a decent initial overclock?

Um you have ddr2 677 which is 333fsb if you run 1:1 with the cpu.
Unless your ram can overclock to ddr2 800 you're not overclocking your cpu.

The minimum CPU:RAM ratio for Intel should be 1:1 if not better otherwise you will slow down your system.
You already are at 1:1 if you increase your CPU fsb to 400 you will be slower than 1:1.

if you can raise the memory voltage, set it at 2 volts and then raise the fsb in 10 mhz increments and see where that gets you, also raise the cpu voltage to 1.3 which should be good for at least 3.4 ghz so when the system starts crashing you know it's the memory's fault. when you hit the highest stable memory clock, start lowering the cpu voltage until you find the lowest stable volts.

go get yourself some 800mhz sticks for better results if you're willing to spend some $.

Most likely they can hit DDR2 800 at 2.2v.
Lock your pci-e voltage at 100 also if overclocking on a 775 gigabyte board.

Would it be easier, and give greater overclocking possibilities with this E8200 CPU, if I I just bought 2GB of DDR2 1066 RAM?

Would 2GB of 1066 be better than 4GB of 667 in this instance?

With DDR2 two chips is better than four. If your board has 4 slots. The 1066 2 Gb is already clocked higher than 667 so your answer is yes. As far as goin farther than the rated clock it depends on the quality of the ram.

With all my DDR2 (which im running now) I had to lower the clocks on the memory to get the CPU higher. Mine is E8400 @ 3.8 with 2 chips 4 Gb of DDR2 1066 running at 920. or someware in the 900 range cant remember Im at work

It's not a quad so he has a chance of getting there but I expect you will be right in the end. The NB will fry eggs for sure.

Well you are already at 333.
lock the pci-e at 100.
See if you can do 350 then 375 then maybe 400.
make sure your ram stays 1:1 not auto (memory frequency, 1:1 - double your fsb).
See how high you can go before you have to start increasing the voltage on your cpu or northbridge (mch).

With the Kingston Hyper 1066 DDR2 RAM, things seem to be going well. I have tuned the BIOS and set the FSB to 400. No problems in MemTest or XP so far.

However...

CPU-Z reports the following:

Core speed - 3200.1 MHz
Multiplier - 8.0
Bus speed 400.0 MHz
Rated FSB MHz

DRAM frequency 480.0MHz
FSB : DRAM 5:6

The problem is that I would like the FSB : DRAM ratio to be at 1:1.

How should I tweak my above settings to achieve this?

CPU 5 : Ram 6 is better than 1:1 !
You want the ram to be minimum 1:1 with the CPU, any faster is better!

keep increasing your FSB, your only running your RAM at 960, while your RAM can do 1066.

Would it be advisable to take the FSB up to 444 Mhz? This would result in a memory frequency of 1066, and would certainly make best use of my RAM.
