Would upgrading to 2x4gb ram(instead of the existent 2x2gb-see specs) help my BF3 performance? I get a strange fps drop when zooming in with the sniper on caspian border. I use 11.10 prev. 3 with no caps (both gpu's stay at 99% so no bottleneck or anything). Resolution is 1680x1050, settings all ultra except MSAA...I get like 100 avg fps on caspian border, going to ~50 when i zoom in on a 12x scope. I checked and the usage on the gpu's does not drop then. What do you say guys?

Everytime I've checked my RAM useage, I've never seen it fully max out the 4 gigs I have. It's been real close to using it all, but that's all it's been is close. I suggest installing the cap4 crossfire profiles. I saw a nice increase in performance doing that(from 45-50 fps to 60-70 fps average).

I was asking if 2x4gb could help my performance; and btw 11.9 cap 4 messed with my 2nd gpu's usage really bad...never did go above 40%; when i uninstalled it usage went to 99% on both cards. My problem is not with usual fps, just when zooming in with a sniper. Thank you for your response but it doesn't help me.

Actually, I did give my answer to your question.

Everytime I've checked my RAM useage, I've never seen it fully max out the 4 gigs I have. It's been real close to using it all, but that's all it's been is close.

But to make sure, open task manager, go to the performance tab, stretch the task manager like shown in pic below, and go play BF3. After you see this slow down your talking about, check task manager. If you see a point in the task manager that all 4 gigs of your RAM is maxed out, then yes, more RAM will help you.

I am working and I am using more than 4Gb of RAM right now (maybe 10 office programms and mediaplayer running).
When you play games, it is not only the game that uses memory. If your game takes nearly 4 Gb of RAM there are a lot of services and background activity that has to be swaped out to the hard disk drive=less performance.

just my 5 cent

id have to say ive come real close to using 4gb of ram, i think with bf3 running and all the system processces, plus i run ventrilo and fraps in the background i think its been up to about 3.8g ram on bf3 use the resource monitor while playing and see how high yours gets

Thanks guys, but yesterday I have found the solution to this zooming in problem. It regards tesselation. I unchecked the option "amd optimized" in CCC and reduced the tesselation manually to x8 and boom baby!!!! No more problems...i get more fps when zooming in with the 12x scope(even on Caspian Border I get like 130 instead of 50 before; medium fps without zooming in is 95-100). All settings Ultra and without MSAA, 1680x1050. The change in tesselation is not noticeable in game at all. I can't believe I found this; I will create a separate thread with the solution, so others may benefit from it as well. GG me :D
