Computer Wont Boot (Infinite Loop)

Hi guys,

Having a Issue with my brothers build. It Comprises of the Following:

Gigabyte X38-DS4 , Q9650 , 4GB of 800MHz DDR2 , EVGA GTX460 , and a TX 650 PSU.

The problem is as follows:

Press "On" Button => Lights will Flash (literally flash on then off once) => then goes quiet for 1 second => Lights will flash again for one second => repeats

So I guess its attempt to start the boot process but fails.

Ive tested different memory sticks, different processor, and even run without the graphics card, but it all just runs into this loop and i've never come across this scenario before nor been able to find someone else with the problem.

Anyone got any ideas?

does it beep?
check it again or try to boot without ram. does it beep?
its like overheat sign, but since its on booting it must be not overheat, it could be from hardware err

yeah that the issue I have, Probs will just have 2 try switching out the Q9650 for my Q6600 or wateva it is

This reminds me of when i flashed the BIOS from a P5K-SE within Windows and it failed: when i tried to boot, i got pretty much the same thing.

Was there an attempt @ mobo BIOS flashing? I got mine fixed @ the store: they either replaced the BIOS chip or they hot flashed it.

before it happened does it act weird or something
btw have you tried plug out 24 pins power, leave a while then re plug in again?

this can be caused by a multitude of things, like the other person sad a bad bios flash is the most likely cause, a damamged bios chip, Um try resetting your bios? there should be a bios jumper on your motherboard you just have to locate that. if there was a attempt to change bios settings and your motherboard doesnt have a safety defauly itll get stuck in that loop until you manually reset the bios

Yeah, i took the computer apart, and then rebuilt it the next day, to eliminate any screwed up connections.

Ill Give the bios a shot tomorrow.
