More RAM=more FPS or no??

Patriot 6GB (3x2GB) 1600MHz DDR3 Extreme Viper

If i add more 6GB of the same RAM memory how will that result in games? For example on BF3...will i see any difference, more FPS or anything??

with 6GB already in the system probably not. your only going to see a performance increase if you need more ram because yours is running out during gaming. and in reality that probably affects load time alot more than FPS, regardless nothing is taxing 6GB of memory game wise so if your having performance problems. ram isnt it.

Do you have any problems in BF3? I had to go, but only in this specific game, from 4GB to 8GB. 6 should be enough.

In some maps like gulf of oman when all is maxed out 4AA and 1920x1080 fps drops to 38-39 sometimes when i am in open space etc...

None of the games out today and probably in the near future will need more RAM than you have, especially with your 3GB VRAM

There are many guides here. It's really not hard and if you are able to build your own pc your won't have any problems learning to overclock.

depends on the game....A few hours of ARMA II easily takes up quite a lot of ram with everything set to max settings

even if the performance is negligible - i just bought the same 6gb kit i bought when i built my i7 rig, for 1/5th the price. i don't know how much prices will raise, but it seemed silly NOT to get it at that price while it lasted.

but that depends on how much it costs, how tight your cash flow is, and how much the price will raise. idk those for you...

Which is why more and more people r going into debt.. The upgrade wont be negligible, itll be nonexistant. Self control goes a big way to avoiding wasting money on stuff that u dont need.

6gb should be enough for any game right now but ram is cheap so it would be nice & more futurure proof to have 12gb.
Don't keep your cpu at stock clocks its a hame to do so because your 7970 needs all the power he can get from the cpu and i know that bf3 scales well with icreased cpu clocks.

you know what shib... i'm sure glad you know me so well as to know my spending habits even!
more people are going into debt because everyone wants the american dream, that they've been promised - and no one wants to recognize that it's not sustainable. we can go round and round - but self control is not something i am in lack of.

when i save save save, and decide to spend $40 on SIX GIGS of ram - you can keep your opinions out of it. thanks.

Even at 4.6ghz on a i7 3960x going from 4-8gb of ram makes nill difference with a hd6990.
Actually scary enough, very very small differences even from 3-4gb in most games.

Granted this would vary depending on what else was being run in the background.
