I don't think theres a way, you might be able to just draw the pipelines on with a conductive pen or a pencil.

Wait a sec, did anyone actually try to do this? liking flashing or hardmod? Besides, can we just 'connect' those pipes? where and how? Hey Smogg, I 'm on the same boat. ;)

I'm new to ATi so I need to collect all intel before doing anything silly. :D

I hardmodded my X800Pro (non-VIVO), by using a conductive pen to bypass the laser cut, hence enabling the extra 4 pipelines.

I have absolutely no idea if you can do this on an X800. Maybe. Maybe not.

I know the X800 Pros, and X800 XTs use the same chip (just with the laser cut, diabling 4 pipelines on the Pro), but do the X800s use the same one as well? If it does, then I think it could be possible, using exactly the same method. However, I have never heard of anyone doing it to a normal X800, which makes me think you can't. I could be wrong.

I'm well aware of the hard/soft mod of X800PRo(even the non-VIVO) too. AFAIK there is no laser cut thingy on the R430 chip, so the old-fashion hard mod is out of the question, I think.

The weird thing is, the soft mod by flashing 'looks' to be very possible(same chip, PCB as the 16p X800XL), and yet no story(either sucess or failure) was heard.

The only reason I can think of is that 'maybe' this R430 series is relatively new, so it is not that popular yet. I can see that right now posts about X800 (R430) is on the increase, so I guess some story will eventually come up.

The chip on the R430 is different to the R42x. A search of this forum and others should showup some closeup pictures of the different cores. There is no laser cut and nowhere to put the laser cut. Modding by using a metalic paint isn't possible. I have used a full X800 XL 16 pipe bios to little effect on my 12 pipe X800. The GPU and memory speeds were altered but the pipes remained unchanged at 12. From reports on other sites there does not yet seem to be a way of enabling the missing 4 pipes.

If anybody is still interested i have just flashed my x800 hybrid to an xl, gpu and memory changed to xl settings but still 12 pipes I think. But I went from 59362 in aquamark to 62684. I dont know if this is any good as I am new to this and it is the first time I have ever flashed a card.

Exactly the same results as me. I flashed my X800 hybrid last week. The boost in memory speed is good but that's about it.

Ok checked with ati tool yes 12 pipes. so I thought i would oc it. I put ramsinks on the back got 428.50/540 stable aquamark 63995 3dmark03 10126. I reckon that is pretty good for £150 card. If anybody knows how to unlock the other 4 pipes I, and im sure the others would be very grateful if you could let us know. Great forum I always read forums but never join in, but you seem a friendly lot so I have taken the plunge.

Hey Redlight,
So u just flash the XL bios without tuning down the frequencies first (my x800 is clocked at 350/350x2) such that you can be sure your cooling can handle the OCed frequencies? Besides, is there any ramsink which is mounted 'on the back'? Pls tell me where to get it :D !!

The X800 clocked at XL frequencies out-performs a 6800GT, so I think I 'll settle with the 12p if OCing is successful. ;)

no it doesnt

uf u where somehow able to enable the pipes then it may equal a 6800gt but the gt would waste any r430 in a oc race ;)

Yes just flash it the temps do not change much from the x800 stock without the heatsinks. The heatsinks are quiet pc and came from dabs (thats uk). Ok I have had a bit more time to play around and can run stable at 429/540. After an hour of playing half life 2 the temp was 72c. I may buy an arctic vga silencer ati rev5 for it. But all games run great at the xl stock speed so I dont think I will hammer it much more. Hope this helps.

Similar story here. GPU 435 max, MEM 542 max, I run it a little below that though. Fan runs at 40% below 45º and does run at 100% unless the temp rises to 65ºc or above. Running the fan at max on my card has nor real benefit, just more noise. Although I've not seen 72ºC on my card, more like 63ºC. And the second heat sensor isn't in or near the memory it's directly behind the fan, mounted on the actual card circuit board. My Sapphire card has the memory cooled by the main heatsink on the GPU side and by a simple metal plate on the rear.

Hey guys,
Did u guys do any volt mod? Cuz my X800 cannot handle the XL frequencies just by flashing. Any help? It is supposed to be GDD3 256bit 256mb.

By the way, when u guys do the flash, do u change the SSID or the subsystem ID? Cuz if not, I have to use the force flash option. Any idea?

I did the same as sean478 no other mods needed to run at XL speeds. I then added ram heatsinks and now running at 430/530. Today I am adding an Arctic Silencer 5 rev2,but I do not think I will get much more out of it. I have only done it so I could get over the 10000 3Dmark03 which I have done easily. Any way I reckon there great cards for the money.

The force flash is ok but when I reboot the screen is all crazy(hard to describe, but it's bad) :( .

By the way, I use atiflash and my command is like: atiflash -newbios -f -p 0 X800XL.bin, would flashrom make any difference? Which version do u guys use?

Besides, which XL bios did u guys use? I used the ATi one, next time maybe I'll try the sapphire one.
