LG D2500N-PN Glasses-Free 3D Monitor Shipping This Month

LG Electronics has today announced the release (in Japan at least) of its D2500N-PN 25-inch monitor offering glasses-free 3D (TriDef software needs to be installed to enable 3D). LG's 3D display makes use of a TN panel, comes with a built-in webcam (which tracks the user's head movement to optimize the 3D experience), and features a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a 5 ms response time, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio (5,000,000:1 DCR), and 250 cd/m2 maximum brightness.

The D2500N-PN includes DVI and HDMI connectors and is expected to become available at the end of this month priced at about 150,000 yen (~ $1,923).

I'd love to try one of these out to see how well they work. I like not having to use glasses.

Glasses-Free = fine, who on earth would like to wear that glasses.
Screen-Free = the best. Real-time true 3D projection and you won't need to have cables, screen and all that crap. But it's ok I can wait mmmm ... 10 years or something.

Man, 150.000¥ even for Japan is too much...But to be honest, the price of TVs in Japan is almost the same, so...

Glasses-free 3D doesnt look good IMO.

Nothing jumps out at you.Just makes the screen go in like there is a 3D world "in" the TV

I’d rather buy an ASUS VG Series VG278H Black 27" 3D monitor for about ~$699.99 and deal with the glasses.

It seem to me that this tech will work with any monitor and a decent webcam. So even if they are charging for whatever tech is involved with this thing and you split up the price:

Monitor: $641
Webcam: $641
Software: $641

Wow, what a rip-off.

As is, not a chance.

OTOH were they to knock the price down by 90% it 'might' have a chance of making a profit (not from me though, had I that amount on me I'd be shopping for one or two OLED displays at a res higher than 1920x1080/1200 and hopefully a decent refresh rate :p ) :confused:

Truth be told I wouldn't even spend ~$699.99 for the ASUS VG Series VG278H Black 27" 3D (1920x1080) monitor. The last 27" monitor I bought was an ASUS VE278Q (1920x1080) with LED Backlight for ~$280 or so. IMO a great monitor for a great price. I wouldn't pay more then double the price just for the 3D feature of the ASUS VG278H with all else being basically equal save for the 120Hz refresh rate and glasses.

No way,....

When they start charging a minor premium for 3D like ~$100 or less, then I can consider it,…
