This will impact more than just current iPads. Future revisions are gonna be effected so it isn't going to be that simple. How far will Apple go to fight it? That is the question.

If Steve were alive, I wouldn't be surprised if he up and pulled production from China. Steve had to have his way, gotta remember that. But then where else could this iPad be made at? Probably would cost them a bit more elsewhere.

I'm kinda surprised how far this case has gone. Commie gov must feel they can get more out of Apple than they can the other way. But other companies around the world will be watching this. Either way it will impact more than just Apple.

Regarding the car industry, that is very untrue! Those "Chinese copies" are actually joint ventures from the original producers, big producers like Volkswagen, General Motors, Honda, etc hold roughly 60% of Chinese car production.

Had to register to say how wrong you are. Joint ventures are joint ventures, completely separate from the rest of other Chinese car companies w/ no partnership that have been doing the copying.

Geely/Chery copied Chevy/Daewoo's [car name] and sold it as the QQ;
Shuanghuang copied BMW's X5 and sold it as the CEO;
Shuanghuang copied Benz/Smart's Fortwo and sold it as the Noble;
Honda's CRV has been copied as well and I could go on naming vehicles.

And guess what happened in the courts?

Those are NOT joint venture partnerships.
The notable joint ventures are with:
SAIC, Guangqi, Dongfeng, Brilliance, FAW.

This won't stop iPad production, just exportation. So the loss won't be as big as you'd think. They could also be shipping out as much as they can now just in case to limit the loss to next to nothing. They'll just give more to ProView, but it'll still be a tiny amount for Apple, unless ProView get really greedy, in which case Apple will suffer a longer exportation ban, and ProView might lose their negotiation privilege. ProView will have to get the right balance between greediness and fairness to get the most out of Apple

Thier business practices are no different then anyone else's. The only reason they even make the news like this is because of thier popularity.

Think of it this way.......

Drunks are a dime a dozen. But when Amy Whinehouse is drunk on stage everyone talks about it. Same thing. Like the whole Foxconn issue. Do you think Apple is the only company Foxconn produces things for? Yet Apple is spun in the news as being the only villain. Please, its spin in the news thats causing people to become sheeple.

I don't see American's getting cheaper iPhones due to the cheaper labor in China. Thus Apple and every other Company that use the workers of China as a means to simply profit exorbitantly. I guess its all good as long as we keep getting new expensive devices year after year.

Its because of profit margin. Americans wont work for 10¢ an hour let alone per day. Even with cost of shipping, its still A LOT cheaper to make them in China. However this is due to the fact that China is artificially keeping its curreny devalued because they want to keep bringing in new investors.

IIRC Apple was quoted as saying they will NEVER bring those job's back to the US, how's that for patriotism? Capitalism man, welcome to the new millenium, where everything is profit driven regardless of the impact on/to society.
