Need help with picking RAM

I am getting the ASUS P9X79 Deluxe mobo and looking for 1600mhz DDR3 32Gb's of ram in a 4 x 8Gb configuration.

Should really be paying attention to the compatibility list on the ASUS website? I expect that this list is almost instantly outdated as its unlikely ASUS would keep it up to date.

Ram at this speed/configuration are all about the same price across the vendors so im mainly worried about compatibility.

you dont need to check the compadibility list. The ram on those lists are from ram companies paying to have their ram on it. All ram will basically work. as like as its quad channel DDR3. I usually go with G. Skill or Corsair

Corsair or G-Skill look like the brands that i would like to go with. I would like to be able to fiddle with some overclocking too

I dont see any difference, except for size, between the Corsair Vengence and the Corsair Dominator series

And Same goes with the Gskill Ares and RipjawsZ Series.

Does anyone know which 32GB (4x8Gb) kit i should go with for the X79 chipset? Is there really any difference other then look (overclocking potential perhaps?)

Im open to other brands if someone thinks they may be better. Thanks

Ya, the 4 i mention above:

are all XMP v1.3 and come in 32GB kits. I was thinking of staying at 1600mhz due to it being quite a price jump to 1866. Also was thinking i would stick with 4x8Gb unless there is a benefit to filling all the DIMMs (is there a difference? Someone told me that there is more latency with more DIMMs filled but i could use faster 4Gb sticks which would eliminate the difference between 4 DIMMs and 8 DIMMS filled.)

Using 8Gb sticks leaves 4 slots open for more... although i probably wouldnt fill them unless i found that the software i will be using could take advantage of the additional RAM

Open to any advice


Does anyone know of any differences between the above sticks? Possibly overclocking abilities? Only thing i can see (Besides size and color) is that it looks like the corsair has lower latency
