HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 faulty

I have a faulty xfx 5870 eyefinity 6 and xfx wants to replace it with
the 6950. All specs and reviews/research indicate that the 5870 eyefinity
is better. But the support guy insist that the 6950 uses new arhtichecture
and therefor it's better.

Anyone experience with this painful saga?

All reviews I see show the 6950 2GB is slightly better than the 5870 1GB, and I imagine other than doubling up on VRAM the XFX 5870 is pretty much the same thing. If it's a factory OC'd 6950 I'd imagine it would actually be a decent improvement.

He may be, but there's also the off chance that he legitimately needs advice. In which case I'm willing to help. Now although on paper the 5870 seems better in every category, you also have to consider that most reviews were done when the cards launched before any optimizations, which means the performance difference is probably greater (in favor of the 6950) than stated in these reviews. Let's looks at W1z's review for the HD7950 which lists the 5870 and 6950 2GB on Metro 2033 (very demanding game);

The difference isn't huge, but the 6950 edges out the 5870. I looked through all the games in that review and very rarely did the 5870 tie the 6950, and it only beat it by fractions of a frame a handful of times. The 6950 was also a little more energy efficient, drawing on average 10w less power. They are about equal, but the 6950 is a slightly better card.

Nope! trust me he's not , a new member like him would have just made a new thread about it & beside he stayed on this page for a very long time (i came here to check a few times) he was waiting for someone to respond & see if he can troll someone else after my last post...

Anyhow IMO he was trolling

Uh if that was a troll it was the least imaginative and most boring one ever. Even if you are right this is hardly one to freak out about feeding.

In other news, for a few seconds I actually thought a new 5870 was just released which of course made no sense at all.
